Even though we have new kitties in... please don't forget our 3 kittens we still have... vaccinated & ready to be adopted!

What better way to spend a chilly day than snuggled up with a furry friend, or a companion armchair supporter for tomorrow's Comrades Marathon viewing... or a built-in heat pack to ease those tired & sore muscles if you running 🏃‍♀️ tomorrow.

Sunday afternoon saw us collect these 4 from Howick (as Katz had no transport & offered us a donation for fuel). She could unfortunately not keep the kittens due to restrictions imposed on her by her landlord.

From top left, clockwise:
💜 Celeste (female, calico tabvy)
💜 Shadow (female, tortie)
💙 Cooper (male, ginger/white)
💙 Mo (male, black smoke with white)

As that are almost out of quarantine & as they're 8 weeks old, they will be going for their vaccinations on Monday. They were dewormed upon arrival.

Whilst we only home 5-7 days after vaccinations, we are taking pre-bookings for these kittens. Should you be interested, please WhatsApp message Suzanne on 082 478 5860.

These 6 were the second batch to arrive on Sunday. A stray female cat had arrived at Cole's house; very friendly, but was posted on community groups & she was never claimed. She started fattening up which they thought was because of the good food she was getting, but in actual fact she was pregnant. Cole will be having mommy sterilised.

Interestingly in this litter we have twins (not just kittens that look the same, but the 2 silver tabbies shared an amniotic sac!) as mommy decided Cole's bed was her birthing spot 🤦🏻‍♀️.

In this litter we have (left-right):
💙 Chip (male, silver tabby - one of the twins)
💜 Pepsi (female, black)
💙 Rex (male, tabby)
💙 Ace (male, tabby/white - mommy's double!)
💙 Dale (male, silver tabby - second of the twins)
💜 Oreo (female, white/black)

These kittens are coming up for 8 weeks & will be going for their vaccinations this coming week (we only home 5-7 days post vaccinations), but we are opening up pre-bookings for these kittens. They were dewormed upon arrival with us.

Should you be interested in pre-booking one of these busy kitttens, please WhatsApp message Suzanne on 082 478 5860

The first 7 to arrive were from a stray mom. The mommy cat brought them into Kevin's yard & he began to feed mommy & made contact with us upon their arrival.

Kevin was heading out of town this week & was concerned for the kittens' safety whilst he was away (& kittens were now eating by themselves), so they came to us. There is a little one who is half the size of her siblings (think of the "I just a baby" reels) but is eating well & normally the first to the plate.

All were weighed & dewormed upon arrival (as per our normal processes) & are all eating well. a few are still a little nervous & hiss at sudden movements but are adjusting well & with being without mommy (yes, before it is asked - there are plans in place for sterilising mommy)

And then.... BOOM Sunday hit!!!

We had 17 😮❗ kittens arrive into our care on Sunday (posts to follow). What a busy day it was, in amongst shopping, normal household chores, kitty blanket & litter tray washing, then we were prepping space for the arrivals, weighing & deworming each & giving them each a once over 😴

We have many, many mouths to feed & litter trays to change (as well as dewormers & ticky/flea applications), so please consider donating towards these babies:
Banking details are:
SM Kunz (dedicated account for the kittens)
Capitec
Branch code 470010

Savings account
Ref: Name/donation

Physical donations are also happily accepted (as well as deliveries such as Sixty60, Pick 'n Pay ASAP, Woolies Dash, Takealot etc). WhatsApp message Suzanne on 0824785860 for details

*** Japser has been booked 💙 ***

Last week Isabel contacted us to see if we would assist with this feral kitten. As we could judge his age from the picture, he was trapped & brought to us.

Upon "extracting" him from the trap by scruffing him, he did not fight or fuss or even tense up as we gave him the once-over for any ticks in the common areas (armpits, neck, in & around ears) as a typical feral would. We even cleaned dirt from by his nose... & not even a hiss!! What happened next, took us by surprise as he started purring like a little engine!

We loosened our "feral grip" on him & held him like a typical kitten & was quite content to be stroked & snuggled & just purred his heart out! We have named him Jasper as the unusual striping on his tail looks like that of a red banded jasper. He too had some small ticks in his ear, so was also treated with a Nexgard Combo (being a spot-on, it reduces the stress of getting a dewormer down & spraying with tick/flea spray).

Jasper too has completed his quarantine & is off for his vaccinations tomorrow too. If you looking for a red-head with unique markings to be your fur-ever companion, WhatsApp message Suzanne on 082 478 5860

Let us try again for this story... we typed a whole post & the phone glitched as we clicked post & lost it all 😖

6 weeks back Lara contacted us regarding a stray feral kitten at her workplace that had appeared from the bushes by the car park. As soon as she approached he would run off. Unfortunately, we were full to capacity at that point, so were not in a position to assist. So, Lara started feeding him & it didn't take him long to learn what her car engine sounded like & just after she parked, he would appear on the other side of the fence & waited for his food. He would wait until she had moved a fair distance away before coming to eat & ducked off if any sudden movements.

3 weeks on he came through the fence & ate his food whilst she was still quite close & then within a few days would eat right next to her & allowed her to touch him whilst eating. 2 days later hubby came along & not only did her come to eat, but demanded to be stroked & climbed in his lap etc. It was at this point that we realised that he definitely wasn't a feral kitten (he would not tame that fast if feral).

So Saturday almost 2 weeks ago we met Lara & hubby on site & true to form as soon as he heard the car, he appeared. Even though strangers were around, he was not perturbed & he just happily walked into a carrier to eat the food inside... the easiest "uplifting" of a kitten.

So, Butternut (as Lara had named him & we've kept it) is safely & happily with us. Lara had noticed earlier that week that he had patches of fur missing on his rump by his tail. Upon closer inspection, we found some puncture wounds (most likely from the large male that hangs around as well). His tail hung down as he had an abscess (& localised inflammation) but is well on the mend & his tail is now almost fully back to its perky upright self. He has been treated with Nexgard Combo as he had a large tick on his neck & we found 2 tiny ones on his face & 1 on his ear, so that would not only have killed all the ticks, but dewormed him as well (as we routinely do with our kitties from arrival).

In the last few days he's learnt what toys are & happily chases his bell-ball around as well as tossing his toy mouse all over the place. He also loves cuddles (aka snuggle-huggles) & just purrs up a storm. He loves to snuggle & he's one of those that if he could get into your skin, he would (making up for lost time)!

Butternut has completed his "quarantine" period & is off to the vet tomorrow for his vaccinations & will soon be on the hunt for his happily-ever-after we promised him that he'd have (vs fending for himself in the bushes). If you are interested in meeting / pre-booking this gorgeous rusty ginger & white (very unique) boy, WhatsApp message Suzanne on 082 478 5860

This morning we have some VERY sad news... little Mlu passed away last night 💔😭

He'd been quiet during the day yesterday (but has been a quieter kitten from the start). The last night he had 2 seizures & his foster mom was on the phone to the vet. She was heading to meet the vet (after 8pm last night) & by the time she reached her property gate he'd passed away 😭💔 Thank you to Janet & family for all you did for precious Mlu 💙

Sadly something within his fragile body (probably linked to the trauma he'd previously endured) caused the seizures 😿

The 2nd pic is little Mlu with his namesake & rescuer 😇 (taken 10 days ago)
