Mama Ntombi’s Community Projects (MNCP) is a South African non‑profit organisation dedicated to uplifting vulnerable children and families in the rural settlement of Ezinketheni in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. Founded in 2007, the initiative began as a volunteer‑led effort. Our office is located at 219 Retief Street in The Christian Fellowship church building, but all programmes are delivered
on the ground in Ezinketheni, a community that lacks basic infrastructure such as proper roads, water and sanitation. Our focus is on children because they are the most vulnerable members of society, yet we cannot work with them in isolation; we also provide support to the broader community. We run an Early Childhood Development Centre that serves 30 of the poorest children with free breakfast, lunch and essential stationery. A Breakfast Club ensures learners start the school day nourished, while a Reading and Homework Club reinforces literacy and academic skills. Three mentorship groups, totalling 50 children, pair boys with male facilitators and girls with female facilitators to teach ethical values and life skills. After‑school feeding, holiday clubs and workshops on anti‑drugs, bullying and suicide prevention etc. In addition, we implement family‑sustainability projects that aim to reduce dependency on hand‑outs and promote self‑reliance. Our motto, “Making a difference one innocent child at a time,” reflects our commitment to hope, dignity and lasting impact. With the support of donors, partners and volunteers, MNCP strives to create a brighter future for the children of Ezinketheni and to strengthen the entire community.
