Know your rights
Access to fair and dignified housing is a fundamental human right. As we observe Human Rights Month in March, it’s important that both tenants and landlords understand their rights and responsibilities.
The KZN Rental Housing Tribunal, which is part of the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Human Settlements is an independent statutory body established by the MEC that regulates and mediates all rental related activities in KZN, helps resolve disputes between tenants and landlords — free of charge.

✅ Mediate and conduct hearings
✅ Rule on unfair practices
✅ Refer matters to relevant authorities if laws are being broken
