Join Elishia Goosen of FreeMe Wildlife at the Ashburton Aloe Festival for a talk "The Magic of Nandi: A wattle crane experience" at 12h30 on Saturday 4th July at Mawingo Farm (Venue C), D389 Ashburton East.

Elishia grew up on a game reserve in the North West and has conservation in her blood. She started volunteering at the age of thirteen at her local vet clinic and has been working with animals ever since. Elishia is Admin manager at Freeme and her work involves a range of roles including rehabilitation, clinic management, sampling. Elishia heads up the Freeme Tortoise Project.

Join Dr David Johnson at the Ashburton Aloe Festival for a walkabout "Know your indigenous trees" at 10h30 Sunday 5th July at Galago Farm (Venue B), D585 Ashburton East.

David is a retired ecologist, nature guide and author and is no stranger to indigenous trees having developed the keying system for systematic identification. He has a wonderful way of describing the role trees play, the relationships they have to one another and their unique responses to conditions for growth. David and his wife, Sally have supported the conservation and education work of the Conservancy since the 2000's. Celebrate our Aloe Fest's 20th Birthday with this knowledgeable and considerate couple who will be on hand to chat to visitors about gardening for most of the day. David may have some of his books for sale.
