People’s Health Front Statement of Acknowledgment and Appeal

As the People's Health Front, we commend and sincerely appreciate the visible progress being made across the country in infrastructure development, as clearly illustrated by the impressive transformation of our road networks and urban landscapes. These advancements are a testament to the government's commitment to national growth and modernisation, and we recognize the positive impact such developments have on economic activity and national pride.

However, as we celebrate these milestones, we are equally reminded of the pressing and foundational need for a functional and fully equipped public health sector. Access to quality healthcare remains one of the most vital pillars of a thriving nation. A healthy population is the true engine of progress—able to work, learn, build, and sustain the momentum of national development.

We therefore humbly appeal for increased prioritization and investment in the health sector. Our hope is to see the same level of innovation, planning, and dedication that is driving our infrastructural projects also extended to our clinics, hospitals, and medical systems.

This is not a criticism but a call to partnership—a call to build a nation where both our roads and our people are strong, resilient, and cared for.

Together, let us invest not only in structures but in lives.

As People’s Health Front, we are deeply saddened by this incident.

No one — especially a pregnant woman — should be treated with such cruelty when seeking help. This is a direct reflection of the broken healthcare system in Zimbabwe, which continues to push our people into desperate situations.

We call on all Zimbabweans, at home and in the diaspora, to unite and demand a functional, dignified health system that serves our own.

Let’s not only feel pain — let’s turn it into purpose.
Join the Peoples Health Front and be part of the change.

A Reflection on Neglected Pain: The Case of Taenda Pinjisi

A video has been circulating of our brother, Taenda Pinjisi, clearly in pain and pleading for painkillers while lying in a hospital bed after a reported accident. Not long after that footage was taken, Taenda passed away.

We do not have all the facts, and it remains unclear exactly what happened. But what’s being said—and what is seen in that video—is disturbing. If this man truly died without receiving basic pain relief, then we are staring at a deep wound in our health system. One that allows suffering to go unheard, unanswered, and unacknowledged.

Whether it was a shortage of medication, an overwhelmed staff, or simple neglect, something went terribly wrong. And it is not the first time.

We must begin to ask: how many more cries for help will go unanswered before real change is made? Pain should never be ignored. Lives should never be reduced to just another case.

RIP Tatenda
