Youth In Action Organisation in collaboration with Free State Department of Social Development and Department of Sports, Arts and Culture Day 2: ๐ ๐ฅ GBVF Awareness and Promotion of Trust and Respect in the community ๐ฅ๐ซ hosted in Paul Roux Community Hall.
Community Dialogue serve as essential, face-to-face discussion to address the root causes of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF), challenge harmful social norms, and collectively build trust and respect
To effectively break the culture of silence and drive behavioral change, community dialogue focus on actionable awareness strategies:
โ
Identifying Root Causes: Shifting conversations away from blaming the victim toward addressing the core issuesโincluding deep-rooted patriarchal norms, toxic masculinity, and power imbalances.
โ
Promoting Continuous Consent: Educating community members on the nuances of clear, enthusiastic, and unmanipulated consent across all interactions.
โ
Activating Bystanders: Encouraging community members to "see something, say something" and safely intervene or report abuse rather than looking away.
โ
Multi-Sectoral Collaborations: Bringing together law enforcement, local health departments, faith-based groups, and traditional leadership to present a united front against violence.
๐ค Promoting Trust and Respect
A community dialogue cannot succeed without establishing emotional safety, confidentiality, and mutual respect among its participants
