PLEASE HELP US SUPPORT OUR UPCOMING COMMUNITY EQUINE OUTREACH DAYS

At The Gem Project Sanctuary, we are preparing for our upcoming Community Equine Outreach Days, where we will be providing practical support to horses and their owners within the communities we work with.

To help us with this outreach, we are looking for pre-loved horse tack and equine care items that are still in good working condition.

We are currently looking for:

*Tack*
• Bridles
• Leads
• Saddles
• Numnahs
• Bits
• Girths

*Equine care items*
• Halters
• Hay nets
• Grooming equipment
• Fly spray
• Tick grease
• Wound spray
• Overreach boots
• Spray bottles

If you have any equine equipment that you are no longer using, we would be incredibly grateful if you would consider donating it to us. These items will be put to practical use during our outreach days and will help us support horses and their owners in the communities we serve.

Donations can be delivered to The Gem Project Sanctuary Sunrise Farm, 29 Honeyvale Rd, Philadelphia, Cape Town, 7551

Some acts of kindness genuinely touch your heart.

We are incredibly grateful to Hotel Verde Cape Town Airport for their generous donation of dog food to The Gem Project Sanctuary.

When you care for dogs who have already been through so much, you never take this kind of generosity for granted. Every bag helps us keep their bowls full and continue providing the care, safety, love and second chances they deserve.

Pleased to meet you! I’m Ruth, unofficial Class Captain here at The Gem Project. 🍎

Whatever you’ve got planned today, count me in. A walk? Sounds good. A run? Even better. Meeting new people? I’ll bring my biggest smile. Befriending other dogs? Consider it done. ✔️

I hate to brag, but I’ve been told my social skills are “advanced.” 🤓 That’s why I’m often trusted to help new dogs find their feet. I suppose it helps that I adapt quickly to new routines, love learning new things and take life’s trickier moments in my stride.

If you’re looking for a dog who’s just as happy making friends as she is making memories, something tells me we’re going to make a pretty good team.

Hello! I'm Buddy. Would you like to see the new trick I've just learnt?

The team here at Gem Project Sanctuary tells me it is hard to believe I was found as an unclaimed stray. They look at how closely I watch people, how quickly I learn, and even the handsome ridge running down my back, and they wonder how a handsome guy like me was never missed. But since no one came for me, I am ready to meet the person who will finally claim me!

I enjoy standard dog games, but what I truly love is learning. I thrive on mental challenges, training new tricks, and figuring out complex puzzle feeders. 🎾 When we are working together on a new cue, my eyes do not leave your face. I am incredibly eager to please, and a bit of genuine praise from you makes me feel like I am on top of the world! ☺️

I am highly sociable and comfortable around other dogs, but my primary bond will always be with my human. Because I commit so deeply, I thrive best in a home that maintains a steady, predictable daily routine. Having a consistent environment allows me to settle in quickly and keeps my focus entirely on our partnership.

If you want an active, highly trainable partner who will take our training sessions seriously and remain loyally by your side, I am ready! 💯

Hi! I’m Mr Brown, and I’m really glad you’re here. I was hoping someone would stop by. 🐾

I’m a friendly, laid-back sort of guy who gets along with just about everyone. People, dogs… I’m not fazed. Add a few cuddles into the mix and we’re off to a great start. If you’ve got snacks… well, I’d hate for them to go to waste. ☺️

Oh yeah! Check this out! I’ve got this cool wonky leg that gets me loads of attention, which is pretty handy if you like treats. It’s also a great conversation starter. (You’re welcome.)

It healed a bit wonky after an old injury, but the clever vets say it’s doing just fine. I don’t need any special treatment. I just get on with the important things in life, like walks, cuddles and sniffing out where the snacks are kept.

Anyway, enough about me. Do you have any snacks? I feel like this could be the start of a really great friendship. ☀️

Hi there, it’s Hope. 💛

Some of you may have been following my journey, so I thought it was only right that I let you know I’ve arrived safe and sound at The Gem Project Sanctuary, where I’ll begin the next leg of my rescue journey. 🐾

After an incredible community effort helped get me safely off the streets, I was taken into the care of the wonderful team at Animal Welfare Society of SA, who made sure all my veterinary needs were taken care of. I’ve been treated, vaccinated and sterilised, and they’ve looked after me every step of the way.

Now it’s The Gem Project Sanctuary’s turn to help me with the next part: giving me the space, behavioural support and skills I need to prepare for life in a home and, hopefully, find my forever family.

For now, I’m settling in, getting to know everyone and taking things one paw at a time.

I’ll keep you posted. 💛

Maxi, Ruth and Syrup will be joining us at Paws-a-while this Sunday, wearing their Adopt Me bandannas and hoping to meet a few people who might see something special in them.

We’re taking some very special Gems to Sea Point this Sunday! 💛🐾

Join The Gem Project Sanctuary at .a.while World Animal Day event, where you can meet Maxi, Ruth and Syrup, three of our dogs who are waiting for families of their own.

Lady, our therapy dog in training, and Skye, our Bronze level Canine Good Citizen star, will be joining us too!

Come meet the dogs, chat to our team and find out more about the care, rehabilitation and training that help prepare our Gems for the next chapter of their lives.
