🌧️🏡 Our Cape Town Storm Wendy Houses are up! 🏡🌧️

With Cape Town's unpredictable weather, we've installed storm-proof Wendy houses in our dog runs to keep our dogs safe, dry, and comfortable through rain, wind, flooding, and even the summer heat.

A huge thank you to our incredible maintenance team, who worked tirelessly to complete these in record time. Their dedication to the welfare of our animals is truly inspiring.

Safe, warm, and protected—just as every sanctuary animal deserves. ❤️🐾

A few weeks ago, we had the privilege to host an incredible sterilisation drive at the Sanctuary 🐾 and wanted to share the impact from the day.

In partnership with the Cape of Good Hope SPCA , EnviroVet CVC
and Hill’s Pet Nutrition , we provided essential veterinary care to an underserved community outside Atlantis, Cape Town.

50 animals were sterilised:
🐱 10 Cats
🐶 40 Dogs

Each animal was also vaccinated, dewormed, treated for ticks and fleas, and sent home with a food parcel sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition.

Every sterilisation helps prevent suffering and creates long-term change for animals and their communities 💛

Thanks to the incredible generosity and hard work of The Collinson Group volunteers, who visited the sanctuary a few weeks ago, we were able to pay it forward by donating the kennels they built to help keep Mdzananda Animal Clinic dogs in the community safe, warm, and protected.💙🐾

At the sanctuary, we know rescue is never a solo effort. It takes a village — and when one rescue is struggling, we show up for one another.

While the storm rolls through Cape Town today, our sanctuary dogs are warm, dry, safe, and being thoroughly spoiled with treats inside the hall 🌧️🐾

Some are curled up in the staff bedrooms enjoying the warmth and company, while those outside are safely tucked into our newly built Wendy houses.

We care deeply about making sure every animal here feels secure, comfortable, and looked after — especially on difficult weather days like this.

For many of these dogs, this is the first time they’ve experienced consistency, comfort, and people who genuinely care for them. That’s exactly why the sanctuary exists. https://www.gemproject.org.za/
