Golden Minds SA NPC Participates in GBVF Awareness Campaign Hosted by Health MEC Ms Dieketseng Mashego

Phosphate Sports Field, Greater Phalaborwa – 7 August 2026

Golden Minds SA NPC was proud to attend and participate in the Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) Awareness Campaign hosted by Limpopo Health MEC, Ms Dieketseng Mashego, at the Phosphate Sports Field in Greater Phalaborwa. The event brought together community members from Namakgale, Mashishimale, Makhushane and surrounding areas under the unifying theme: "Together, We Can End GBVF."

Golden Minds SA NPC was honoured to be part of this important initiative. Our team stood at the front of the solidarity walk, leading the march alongside other community organisations and government representatives as a visible sign of our commitment to ending gender-based violence. Our presence at the forefront of the walk symbolised our dedication to being part of the solution and our unwavering stance against all forms of abuse and violence.

The campaign was a powerful platform for dialogue, education, and collective action. The event featured moving performances from the Sir Val Duncan TVET College Campus Choir, whose voices carried a message of hope, healing, and unity. Their performance reminded us that the arts remain a vital tool for social change and community healing.

One of the most powerful moments of the day came from an ex-convict who has taken a stand to educate and share his experiences. His testimony was raw, honest, and deeply inspiring—a living example that change is possible and that men must play a central role in ending the scourge of GBVF. His story challenged us all to reflect, to act, and to become part of the solution.

The event featured contributions from key stakeholders, including the Department of Social Development, the Department of Health, and the South African Police Service (SAPS) , who shared critical information on support services, reporting mechanisms, and community safety. Their presence underscored the importance of a multi-sectoral approach in the fight against GBVF.

Golden Minds SA NPC remains committed to being a voice for the voiceless and a protector of the vulnerable. We thank MEC Mashego and the Limpopo Department of Health for this impactful initiative, and we call on all community members to continue the conversation beyond this event. No woman, no child, no person should live in fear.

About the Event

The event was hosted by Kefilwe Safe Haven in partnership with the Civil Society Unmuted Coalition South Africa, Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality, Kagiso Trust, Fighting Against Unemployment (FAU) , and ASSITEJ South Africa. Golden Minds SA NPC was honoured to be part of this collaborative effort, contributing to the discussions and showcasing our commitment to youth development through arts, education, and community engagement.

A New Chapter with Kagiso Trust

Kagiso Trust, established in 1985, is one of South Africa's leading development agencies, dedicated to creating a brighter future for the country's most vulnerable communities. The Trust works to overcome poverty through sustainable development programmes in education, institutional capacity building, socio-economic development, and financial sustainability. Kagiso Trust provides comprehensive support that encompasses its core pillars of education development, socio-economic development, institutional capacity building, and financial sustainability.

As part of its commitment to strengthening civil society and local governance, Kagiso Trust works with organisations to structure them and build their capacity for growth and greater impact. The formal adoption of a structured framework for the Mopani region marks a significant step in ensuring that youth voices are heard and that organisations are equipped to drive meaningful change.

Golden Minds SA – Phalas Recognition Awards

It is with immense pride, humility, and a heart full of gratitude that Golden Minds SA NPC accepts the award for Best Charity Organisation at the prestigious Phalas Recognition Awards 2026. This recognition is not merely an accolade—it is a profound affirmation of the collective effort, passion, and dedication that every member, volunteer, partner, and beneficiary has poured into our shared vision of youth empowerment and community development.

To the Phalas Recognition Awards organisers—Lebogang Chiloane and the teams at RunMidrand, the Nonyane Foundation, and Hero Network—we extend our deepest appreciation for creating a platform that celebrates local talent and community builders. Your commitment to honouring individuals and organisations that strive for excellence beyond their upbringing inspires us to continue pushing boundaries and serving our communities with integrity and purpose.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partners and supporters who have walked this journey with us and the Ba-Phalaborwa Community. To the Bollanoto Radio team, Mopani Radio and all media houses that have amplified our voice—thank you for believing in our mission. To the leadership, and every community member who has opened doors, offered words of encouragement, or participated in our programmes—this award belongs to you as much as it belongs to us.

To Tumelo Michael Mojapelo , Lethabo Chiloane, and the entire Golden Minds SA family—this is our moment. Let it remind us that no effort is too small, no sacrifice too great, and no vision too ambitious when we work together. We dedicate this award to every young person in Phalaborwa, Namakgale, and across the Mopani District who dares to dream, create, and lead.

As we celebrate this milestone, we recommit ourselves to the work ahead. The journey continues. The impact grows. And we will not rest until every young mind has the opportunity to shine.
