Vision 2035 NPC

Vision 2035 NPC Mining towns deserve a better deal through sustainable transformation, rather than radical transformation. The people may dare to dream!

Driving the inclusive socio-economic development of the mining host communities (mining towns) to create a socio-economic environment where everyone in these communities will have the opportunity to thrive by the Year of the Lord 2035. The mineral wealth beneath the soil... shall be transferred to the ownership of the people as a whole. The state is the CUSTODIAN of the minerals (NOT THE OWNER) an

d the state therefor has the responsibility to award mining rights in such a manner that the "people as a whole" benefit from their excavation of their minerals. Read "people as a whole" to be "people of the host communities". It makes no sense that the people in the Eastern half of the country reaps the benefit of the the minerals in the Western half of the country, and vice versa. We must engage with all the role-players - the state, the investors, the mine managers, local government, local development organisations, local government, and the likes to get a better deal for the host communities of mining activities.
