here's what the N1 City VW Barons team got up to at their first Cansa Shavathon , hosted this past Saturday.

A big THANK YOU to our CANSA Relay For Life Athlone committee member Mildred Frantz for spearheading this initiative and the N1 City VW Barons team for showing heart and being "COURAGEOUS" in the fight against cancer.

Thank you to the teams for all their hard work and all who came out and supported this initiative.

This morning, had the privilege of visiting St Monica’s Church Wellington for their special Cancer Service.

Naomi Philander, CANSA Boland Social Worker, shared important information about breast cancer and prostate cancer awareness, highlighting the importance of early detection, regular screening, and knowing the warning signs.

The community was also informed about the various CANSA services available to support individuals and families affected by cancer, offering hope, guidance, and compassionate care throughout their cancer journey.

A heartfelt thank you to St Monica’s Church for the warm invitation and for creating an opportunity to raise awareness and encourage meaningful conversations about cancer.

Together, through awareness, education, faith, and support, we can make a difference!

Toktokkie recently visited Pippies Kleuterskool in Wellington to teach the little ones about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and being SunSmart. Through fun and interactive learning, the children discovered how healthy eating, staying active, and protecting their skin from the sun can help them stay happy and healthy.

A big thank you to Pippies Kleuterskool for welcoming Toktokkie and helping to empower our youngest community members with healthy habits that will last a lifetime!

would like to congratulate Cameron Alberts, a Social Work student from the University of the Western Cape (UWC), who started her practical placement at CANSA in March 2026.

During her placement, Cameron focused on patient support and facilitated the Dwarsrivier Support Group. Today, she successfully implemented her community project, focusing on breast cancer awareness.

She invited various stakeholders, including Stellenbosch Hospice, Optima RustenVrede, Pniel Library, Thuthuzela Community Care Centre, GBV Care Centre, and Your Wellness Gym, to showcase their services and create awareness within the community.

The project was a great success, featuring aerobic activities, a breast cancer awareness walk and breast examinations conducted by CANSA.

CANSA is proud of Cameron's dedication, commitment and contribution to raising awareness about breast cancer and promoting community well-being.

We wish Cameron every success in her future career as a social worker!

A Morning of Awareness, Hope and Inspiration 💗

CANSA Relay for Life Athlone Event Chair, Nadia Gamieldien, was honoured to speak at Nantes AC’s Breast Cancer Awareness event, which was a tremendous success.

She was joined by Rayghana Cassiem, a breast cancer survivor, and Togeyda Charles, a CANSA Relay For Life Athlone committee member, for a morning dedicated to awareness, education and hope.

Drawing from her own cancer journey, Nadia shared a heartfelt message about the fear and uncertainty that come with a diagnosis, the importance of early detection and support, and how our personal experiences can become a purpose to uplift and inspire others. The message was clear: no one should face cancer alone.

The morning celebrated love, kindness, teamwork and the power of standing together in the fight against cancer.

A heartfelt thank you to Nantes AC and the events team for creating such a memorable and impactful awareness event. 💗
