We are the River Girls and it is our desire to be a River of Light in Dark Places. Public recognition makes us nervous however; we understand that in order for our community to get involved we need to have some sort of public platform. Adopt A Grandparent is our darling, pilot project which we started on a whim 4 years ago. Through Adopt A Grandparent we realised that there’s a great desire for pe
ople within our small community of friends to be part of rebuilding our greater community! It’s the company of women who partnered with us during our first “Adoption-Christmas” who ultimately lead us to starting The River Girls. Without their nudging and desire to continue Adopt A Grandparent we might not have been here today. We love the challenges that lie within the womb of this beautiful town we call home. For us it is an honour to be part of the community, to partner with need and to be a voice to the voiceless. We believe in the strength and unity of women. We pray for a community that is safe for our women and children. We believe in COMMUNITY. It is our belief that we were all called to build community and from that will flow the beauty of voluntary giving and love of humanity. Helpfulness and generosity is so much more than monetary action. Through true community transformation will come!
