MCM Miqlat is taking hands with the Drakenstein Municipality to encourage our young (and old) citizens to get their drivers licences. Getting a job is always easier if you can produce a valid driver's licence. Read further to find out about the new printed study guides available - to make getting your licence just that little bit easier.
Preparing for your learner’s licence? We’ve got you covered!
Across South Africa, applicants are finding the national computerised learner’s licence testing system challenging.
The good news? A new learner’s licence study manual is now available to help you prepare with confidence.
Drakenstein Municipality is proud to be the first municipality in the Western Cape to receive the printed study guide from the Provincial Department on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.
“Young people told us they were failing repeatedly because they did not have the right tools to prepare,” says Japie Cornelissen, Chief: Traffic and Licensing Services at Drakenstein Municipality.
Drakenstein Municipality is leading the way by assisting aspiring drivers and making this user-friendly guide accessible to them.
The three-part study guide will be available at Drakenstein Municipality’s libraries and is also available online by clicking on the following links:

Visit the Dal Josaphat Testing Facility or the Wellington Traffic Centre to book your learner’s licence test. The booking fee is R68 and the issuing fee of the learner's licence following passing varies between R33 and R69 (depending on the type of licence).
The computerised learner’s licence test consists of 64 questions covering the rules of the road, road signs and vehicle controls. Results are issued immediately and successful applicants receive their learner’s licence after payment.
Remember: preparation makes all the difference!
