🩸 Young Hearts, Generous Spirits – Rotary Blood Donation Day

The Rotary Club of Oudtshoorn was delighted by the wonderful turnout at our second Blood Donation Day of 2026, held on Thursday, 15 October, at the Georgie at Oudtshoorn High School.

For the first time, the school opened its doors to host this important initiative, and what a difference its learners made! ❤️

Despite having only three hours, the donation beds stayed busy, with many young donors aged 16 to 18 stepping forward to donate blood — some for the very first time. Their willingness to give something so precious to help save the lives of others is truly inspiring.

A heartfelt thank you to Oudtshoorn High School for hosting the drive, and to the eight team members from the Western Cape Blood Service, led by Sister Carmen, who travelled from George to make the afternoon possible. We sincerely appreciate their dedication and continued support of our community.

Every blood donation can make a life-changing difference. We are proud to see young people embracing the spirit of giving and showing that making a difference starts with one small act of kindness.

Together, we can help save lives — one donation at a time. 🩸❤️

🔥 Good Deeds Day – A heartfelt thank you to our Fire Department👏🙏💙

As part of our Good Deeds Day initiative, two of our members, Hannelie Rix and Liesl Carlisle, chose to honour the Oudtshoorn Fire Department as a special way of celebrating their birthdays.

We had the privilege of visiting the Fire Department to acknowledge and thank the men and women who are always ready to serve our community.

These dedicated firefighters often work behind the scenes, responding when others are in danger, facing fires, emergencies and difficult situations with courage and commitment.

Today was simply about saying “Thank you” and showing our appreciation for the important work they do for Oudtshoorn and its people.🙏

We spoiled the team with a little lunch, snacks and refreshments – a small gesture of appreciation for the big difference they make in our community.

Thank you for your courage, dedication and service. We appreciate you!💙

💙 Thank you, Oudtshoorn, for your ongoing support! 💙

A heartfelt thank you to the community of Oudtshoorn for your continued support of the Rotary Club of Oudtshoorn. Your generosity makes projects like this possible and allows us to support families in our community when they need it most.

As part of our ongoing clothing project at the hospital, we recently handed over a wonderful collection of clothing to the hospital personnel at the childrens ward.

Our donation included beautifully knitted items for premature babies, lovingly made by local ladies who put so much care into every little garment. 🧶❤️ These tiny items are truly special and will bring warmth and comfort to some of the smallest babies.👼

This time, our collection also included clothing for a much wider range of ages — from 0–3 months, 3–6 months and 6–12 months, right through to children up to 7–8 years old. The clothing will be kept at the hospital and handed out as needed to children and families who are in need.

We also prepared special little gift bags for the mothers who spend time in hospital with their children. Filled with toiletries and a few thoughtful essentials, these are simply a small way of reminding the mothers that they, too, are cared for and thought of during what can be a difficult time. 💕🧴

Thank you to everyone who donated, knitted, collected and supported this project. Together, we are making a difference — not only for the little ones, but for their families too. 💙

📚💙 September Good Deeds Day

September is Education and Literacy Month for Rotary, and our two September birthday members, Dalia Dalia Herman Wilck and Andre Retief , decided to celebrate their birthdays by giving back to our local community.

They chose to visit two local crèches, Nomonde Crèche and Dassieweg Crèche, where they took along some lovely goodies and clothing to be handed out to the children.

The highlight of the morning was having two of our members read stories to the children, bringing the stories to life and creating lots of smiles and excitement. And, of course, our very own bunny added to the fun and entertainment! 🐰📖

The children loved every minute of it, and everything was so warmly received.

It was a wonderful way to celebrate their birthdays — by giving their time, sharing a little kindness and bringing smiles to the children. ❤️

Thank you, Dalia and André, for making your September Good Deeds Day so special! 🌟
