About the FOUNDER:
Iona Beukes grew up in Mitchells Plain and was schooled at Parkhurst Primary and then at Westridge High. She matriculated in 1988 and went on to attain a National Higher Certificate in Residential Child Care. Child Psychology and Social Care were among the subjects she studied and became the ones she excelled in. Iona has worked for two major companies in her life and upheld responsible positions at both. as a Specialised Accountant lasted for seven years from July 1991 to September 1998. While employed at Caltex Oil, Iona did some moonlighting at Multichoice, the parent company of DStv. Here she acted as Client Services Representative. In April 1999 she was employed by e.tv (Pty) Ltd. in the capacity of Customer Care Consultant in the Customer Call Centre . Within six months she was promoted to Team Leader and a year later she was appointed as the Manager of Customer Care. After a twelve year career at e.tv, Iona felt it was time to focus more on humanitarian work. This was always her passion and so she took a risk and resigned from her middle management position to pursue her dream of starting this youth development project.
“RISE & SHINE Youth Development Project” is a vision six years in the making. Our aim is to invoke positive change in our communities one youth at a time…
