ARREST MADE AFTER COPPER THEFT
CCTV & teamwork for the win!
Earlier today we were alerted to private CCTV footage of a man who stole copper on private property.
We immediately informed and mobilised our patrollers, armed response vehicles, neighbourhood watches and security companies in the area.
About 3-4 hours later, our CCTV operator spotted him and another man on camera. The teams responded, searching throughout the neighbourhood and surrounds. The suspects split up, with one joining another group and behaving somewhat erratically. When questioned, they denied knowing the thief.
Later, just as it was getting dark, the original suspect appeared on the street and was spotted by one of the patrolling vehicles. He was promptly detained and held until the South African Police Service arrived. Thank you to Lourens Theron for always jumping in to help, no matter the time of day!
A camera review also provided info on a suspect vehicle in the area that was associated with this group.
We can all sleep a little easier tonight knowing a criminal is off the streets and behind bars.
