The NRPA is seeking a Civil Engineer to help with an application to the City Council for constructing raised platforms at the entrances to Chapmans Peak.

These platforms, along with signage, aim to notify drivers they're entering a Woonerf.

NRPA did a poll this week asking for residents input about implementing the Woonerf principle in Chapman’s Peak. The results so far seem to indicate that 80% of residents support it. We are therefore wanting to prepare an official request to CoCT and need to send in engineering drawings for a raised platform.

*Stay vigilant against water disconnection scams*
Scammers posing as City officials are contacting residents via WhatsApp, claiming municipal accounts are in arrears and demanding payment via e-wallet to avoid water disconnection. The latest reported incident was in Goodwood.

• The City does not notify residents of service disconnections via WhatsApp.
• No City official may request payment via e-wallet or personal bank accounts.
• Payments must only be made through official City channels.

*URGENT*
After our request NRPA has had approximately 10 property owners reach out who are paying council sewage charges while they have a septic or conservancy tank. City council has now requested NRPA to collate the information of *all properties that are incorrectly being charged sewage charges*.

If you are one of them, please send us an email ([email protected]) with the following information:
- the name and surname on the rates account
- ⁠your council account number
- ⁠your erf number
- ⁠your address

A gentle reminder to please always check your rates bill and to take note that if you have septic tanks or conservancy tanks you should NOT be paying for sewerage. We have had a few residents lately who are being charged for this so please check!
