No leader, regardless of how gifted, has all the answers, skills, or insight.
We all have flaws and weaknesses, and suffer from blind spots.
Our ability to maximize our strengths and abilities enables our advancement in leadership.
Eventually, we will encounter individuals with greater talent, insight, or capacity in the areas we are deficient (and sometimes in the areas we excel).
Great leaders aren’t intimidated by other’s gifts and abilities, they see them as potential for alignment and advancement.
There will always be the risk that someone may rise above or replace you, but remember that leadership influence is more than just gifts or abilities, it’s about character and integrity.
Surround yourself with people skilled in the areas you aren’t (you can learn from them).
Build your team with capable people who complement your weaknesses with their strengths.
Be the kind of leader who develops and promotes others rather than selfishly protecting your position.
We rise by helping others.
