Educare Mpame started in February 2019 in a small rondavel with 15 children between the ages of 2 and 5 years old.
Within six months, another crèche was opened, and by the end of that first year there were 50 children between the two crèches, Sunshine and Little Flower.
In 2021, a request was made for Educare to finish two partially built crèches that were only at foundation level. Two German families, the Sausen’s and the Warner’s, formed Bildungsforderung Transkei and raised funds through Fly & Help and Global Aid Network (GAiN). The two new crèches opened in April 2022.
In 2025, both were registered as Partial Care Centres with Gold Status.
During 2025, a 5-year plan was created to grow to 200 children attending Educare Mpame’s crèches. This will involve expanding the two existing crèches and building two new ones.
In February 2026, the new crèche Siyakhula Kids opened, currently caring for 16 children in temporary premises. The new building is due to open in the third quarter of 2026 and will cater for 30 children.
On Educare Mpame’s 7th anniversary, we have grown from 15 to 75 children — and we are steadily moving toward our 5-year goal of 200 children.
Thank you to every parent, teacher, donor and community member who has walked this journey with us. Your support is building futures, one child at a time.
