We spoke to Daniel White, an everyday commuter who relies on this busy stretch for work and leisure, about the daily challenges cyclists face here.

To help riders stay safe, Stay Wider of the Rider with Pedal Power Association stepped up to distribute helmets, lights, and reflective bibs. These essentials ensure our community stays seen and protected on every shift and every weekend ride.

Every time a cyclist takes to the road in South Africa, they are trusting that motorists will see them not as an obstacle, but as a person with a family waiting for them at home.

On 30 July, the Silent Spokes initiative officially launched with a powerful premiere of the movie Blind Spot and a panel discussion. Created by Kayla South in memory of her father, former semi-professional cyclist and Cape Town fitness coach Jono Cloete, who tragically lost his life on Stellenbosch Arterial Road, this documentary project aims to turn grief into meaningful action.

A heartfelt thank you from Pedal Power Association to every cyclist who gathered in Durban for our Awareness Ride. We are grateful for your willingness, dedication, and the precious time you gave out of your weekend to ride with purpose and support safer roads for everyone.
