The Khululeka Board and Management Team gathered recently for our annual Strategic Planning Workshop. It was a valuable opportunity to reflect on our progress and think strategically about the road ahead.

We would like to acknowledge Zayne Nabee, who took over as Chairperson in January 2026 after previously serving as Treasurer. We are grateful for his leadership and commitment to Khululeka.

Thank you to our Board and staff for their thoughtful contributions as we continue to grow and strengthen our impact.

Honoured to have been part of such a meaningful gathering as Khululeka Grief Support, where we shared on the self-regulation tools used across our programmes and reflected on how these can be adapted for the ECD space.

It was powerful to see the potential for these tools to support young children navigating adversity and trauma. Most importantly, it was impactful to be in conversation about how we strengthen early intervention in practical, thoughtful ways.

What stood out most is that supporting children through adversity cannot sit with one sector alone. It requires intentional partnership, shared responsibility and long-term commitment across all of us who care deeply about children and families.

Grateful for the opportunity to contribute and even more excited about the work ahead with the committee as we continue shaping stronger systems of support together.

Thank you to

Every child deserves at least one trusted adult they can turn to.

For many vulnerable children and youth, having a trusted adult can make the difference between feeling alone and feeling supported. Trusted adults help create stability, build trust, encourage emotional expression and provide guidance during difficult moments.

Teachers, caregivers, facilitators, mentors and community workers often become the first line of support for young people navigating grief, trauma, violence, family challenges, mental health struggles and uncertainty.

At Khululeka, we believe that strengthening the support systems around children is just as important as supporting the child themselves. Through psychosocial programmes, mentorship, wellness initiatives and training; we work to help create emotionally safe environments where young people feel seen, heard, valued and protected.

When children know they have someone who will listen without judgement, support without criticism and show up consistently their healing and growth become possible.

Trusted adults change lives.

Khululeka Grief Support was honoured to be invited by the WCED to speak at the launch of the Wellness Hub at Hindle High School.

It was a beautiful and meaningful morning spent engaging with learners, educators and community stakeholders around the importance of emotional wellbeing, psychosocial support and creating safe spaces within schools.

We are grateful to be part of conversations and initiatives that continue to prioritise the wellbeing and development of young people within our communities.

GBV Awareness Programme with RCL learners from various schools across Delft hosted by

The session created a space for young leaders to engage in conversations around gender-based violence, healthy relationships, emotional wellbeing, peer support and the importance of creating safer communities for young people.

By equipping youth with knowledge, awareness and confidence, we empower them to become informed advocates for change within their schools and communities.

Creating safe spaces for honest dialogue remains an essential part of preventing violence and strengthening support for vulnerable youth.

The Abangane Programme continues to create safe spaces where children and youth feel supported, heard and understood.

Through peer support, grief support and guided group sessions, students are encouraged to express themselves openly, process difficult emotions, and realise that they are not alone in what they are experiencing.

Creating emotionally safe environments where young people can connect, heal, and support one another remains at the heart of the work we do.
