🏫 All public ordinary and special schools are *closed on Monday, 15 June 2026* as it is a national school holiday.

🗓️ Schools are also *closed on Tuesday, 16 June 2026*, for the national public holiday (Youth Day).

📲 Parents can view the *national school calendar* two years in advance on the Department of Basic Education’s website.

⚠️ Severe weather warning for the Western Cape

The South African Weather Service has issued high-level weather warnings for parts of the province, particularly the Garden Route and Central Karoo, with heavy rainfall expected from Wednesday. Residents are encouraged to remain alert, take the necessary precautions, and stay informed as conditions develop.

The Western Cape Department of Social Development will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates should any of our offices need to close due to the weather.

🌩️ *STORM UPDATE – 11 MAY 2026:* 🌩️

❗ On the advice of the Provincial Disaster Management Centre and the South African Weather Service, *all schools in the Western Cape will be closed on Tuesday, 12 May 2026*.

🏫 This includes *all public ordinary and special needs schools* in the province.

📚 We will continuously monitor and evaluate the situation to ensure that schools can *reopen as soon as possible*, which is currently expected to be on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.
