2. An opportunity: Community training and Empowerment.
We are opening our doors to community members who would benefit from a structured short training programme.
The aim is to equip and empower unskilled members with basic knowledge and practical skills to care for a family member at home. It will provide an opportunity for those who are interested to gain the skills and confidence needed to volunteer and support patients in various institutions.
By sharing our knowledge and skills we can empower our community to care for one another with greater confidence, dignity and compassion.
Our goal is simple: do more, reach further and make a lasting difference in the lives of our patients, their families and our community.

Many times, we need to pause, look back and ask ourselves: What more can we do? How can we improve the service we provide to our community?

We have taken the time to reflect, and as a result, we have identified two important ways in which we can extend our services and make an even greater difference.

1.Bereavement Counselling and support.
We want to open our doors to families and community members who have experienced the loss of a loved one and may need bereavement counselling and emotional support from our trained hospice staff. Our care should not end when a patient passes away. We recognise that grief is a journey, and families may need support long after the funeral.
Our trained hospice staff will provide a safe, compassionate and confidential space where bereaved family members can talk about their loss, express their feelings and receive guidance and support as they work through their grief.
Families will be encouraged to approach us whenever they feel they need support. This service will allow us to continue walking alongside families during their time of loss and adjustment.
Where a person requires support beyond the scope of our trained hospice staff, we will assist with an appropriate referral to a qualified professional or other relevant support service.
