Information about UYDP
Know more About the Organisation!
UKHOZI Youth Development Programme (UYDP) is a youth foundation founded by Asiphe Mxalisa a young driver for social change in Molteno. UYDP is an organization with a vision of “creating young voices in a call for a socially just and democratic society in the Eastern Cape”. The organization focuses on access to quality education, opportunities and social development. The organisation seeks to empower Young people in small towns like Molteno and Sterkstroom to contribute on U- Ubuntu K- Knowledge H- Humaneness and ensure an environment of O- Optimistic Z- Zealous and I- Inspired youth participation. In response to the numerous challenges facing young people in our small societies, UKHOZI YDP will work with individuals aged 14-25 to develop and empower them in a holistic manner hoping to make an impact on various aspects of their lives.
In order to respond to the needs of young people, and to guarantee that their basic human rights are recognized and enforced, young people’s active and meaningful participation in their societies and in democratic practices and processes is of crucial importance. Meaningful youth participation and leadership require that young people and young people-led organizations have opportunities, capacities, and benefit from an enabling environment and relevant evidence based programmes and policies at all levels. The organization aims at broadening the Bounds of Youth Development through ensuring that young people are Engaged Citizens. The hope is to create change and broaden the discussions on how organizations connect with the youth, build communities and strengthen themselves. Furthermore, the organisation will broaden the scope of access to higher education taking note of lack of resources for many secondary schooling students who struggle to access information about second chance matric, learnerships, colleges and universities.
