Hi everyone.
****JOB HUNTING TIPS****
1. Search for the latest CV format and create your CV using the new formal, scan certified copies of your ID and qualifications/ school results. And have it on your phone.
2. Register your CV with all the companies that align with your qualifications or interests. If for example it's in the banking industry, Simply go to google and search Capitec careers in that way you'll be able to make your own profile, add your qualifications and experience then every post they have you will be notified via email. Do the same with all other Big companies you'd love to work for/with.
3. Some companies test you on their first call, they want to know how well spoken you are. If you know you've applied for employment, refrain from answering your phone in slang or funny ways. Teach yourself to be formal and at least say Hi/Hello when answering unknown calls.
4. Sending applications via email. On the subject line always start with what you are applying for whether be it a learnership or internship, even if you are given a job reference on the add...Start start with the position advertised then add the reference. E.g BMW LEARNERSHIP APPLICATION | RD70080. Don't forget to make the subject line with capital letters because you may be sending it from your phone but the recruiter will view it on a laptop/PC screen.
- Do not leave the body of your email empty or only written "please find the attached cv"🙅♂️🙅♂️🙅♂️.... Write a short formal motivation letter every time you send out a job application email.. E.g :
Dear Sir/ma'am.
Good afternoon.
I thank the opportunity to apply for the advertised (you write the advertised position) vacancy, I believe I am the ideal candidate for this opportunity as i (you briefly explain the experience and skills you have that align with the job and a little about yourself but only things that will help you fit the candidate for the job). I am hoping to hear from your team soon.
Kind regards
(Your name and surname).
Then attach your CV as pdf.
5. Always have your phone with you, make sure you always answer to your calls because most recruiters move on to the next person when you don't pick up.
6.Please familiarize yourself with basic computer skills because they come in very handy when it comes to jobs like Contact Center and admin. Even with learnerships when they assess you they'll make you write a short computer literacy test. So guys please know your computer basics and teach yourselves how to use one.
7.A legitimate job wont!!! Ask you for money not even R100. So if you get a response somewhere make sure you don't pop out money and if you are asked to just exit as if you are going to the ATM and don't come back.
Thank you. All the best to all the job seekers.
