🌱 Success Story: Maria Lefifi – SEF Participant

Meet Maria Lefifi from Nokaneng in Mpumalanga. Living in a child-headed household with her sisters and daughter, Maria joined the Social Employment Fund (SEF) in October 2025. Through SEF, she received training in crop production and a stipend, which helped her start a small home garden.

Maria is a true entrepreneur:
💇‍♀️ Runs a salon and is studying at a beauty academy.
🛍️ Sells achar and perfumes, started with SEF support.

Her businesses contribute to household groceries, her daughter’s school fees, and reinvestment in her ventures. Maria dreams of expanding her salon and supporting her sister’s education, while strengthening her family’s livelihood through farming and entrepreneurship.

Maria’s journey shows how resilience, training, and support can transform lives in rural communities.

As we step into the New Year, we are reminded of the purpose that gave birth to Organisation Hands On — to impact lives where the need is greatest. This journey has never been ours alone. Each partner and friend plays a vital role in turning vision into action. As we embrace the year ahead, we invite you to continue owning your part in this shared mission. Thank you for walking this path with us and for making meaningful impact possible.
