Today, on the 253rd anniversary of the brave rescue by Wolraad Woltemade and his horse Vonk at Milnerton beach in 1773, his statue was unveiled at its new home in Loxton Heritage Park. Thank you to Gary van den Bergh, Old Mutual and the Milnerton Central Residents Association who made this possible.

Wolraad Woltemade and his horse Vonk is central to the ethos of Milnerton Surf Lifesaving Club and they are honoured in our club logo to be found on all our club kit, our club flags, our ski's (Vonk) and our most prestigious Rescue Awards for outstanding rescues.

On Friday, 29 May, the Milnerton Surf Lifesaving Club held its Annual General Meeting, during which several prestigious awards were presented to members in recognition of their exceptional contributions.
We extend our sincerest gratitude and appreciation to these individuals for their outstanding commitment to the club. Their dedication, time, and effort have been instrumental in advancing our core mission of preventing drowning incidents at Milnerton Beach and fostering community growth.

Last night, we celebrated our dedicated lifeguards who patrol Milnerton beach and the outstanding achievements of our competitors in the surf and pool arena at our annual Lifeguard Awards evening.

💙Milnerton recorded another drowning free season in 2025/26
🩵Milnerton Lifeguards performed 2831 hours of voluntary duty this season on 52 duty days
💙As part of their core mandate of drowning prevention, they performed 12 help-outs / rescues this season.
🩵Our lifeguards competed in 8 local and regional surf competitions this season as well as RSS Stillwater LWC champs
💙Two of our lifeguards were selected to the Lifesaving South Africa President's Team for the ISRC 2025
🩵One lifeguard was selected to the Lifesaving Western Cape team

Well done team Milnerton Surf Lifesaving 👏Looking forward to what 2026-27 will bring!

We are incredibly proud of .presence who received his Provincial Colours and Western Cape cap last weekend and Brent Shield who is coaching the team.
Javin will represent the Western Cape in Durban this weekend in the Inter-Provincial Lifesaving Championship.

Milnerton Surf Lifesaving Club extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of former member Landon La Grange.

During his time with the club, Landon was known for his competitive drive, his enthusiasm, and his wonderful sense of humour.

He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Rest in peace, Landon.
