June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month in South Africa – a time to break the silence, challenge stigma, and remind men that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. 💙

Check in on the men in your life. Ask them how they’re really doing and be prepared to listen without judgment. Sometimes, just knowing someone cares can make all the difference. Remember, it's okay not to be okay – reaching out for support is a courageous act. 💪

Let’s work together to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues and promote a culture where seeking help is celebrated. Because mental health matters. 🇿🇦💙

🚨 SCAM ALERT: Fraudsters using the City’s name 🚨

The City of Cape Town warns residents about scam attempts where criminals falsely claim to represent the City.
• Fake job offers
• Fraudulent tender or supplier requests
• Housing scams promising RDP or municipal homes for payment
• SMS or email payment demands
• Requests for personal or banking details

⚠️ The City does NOT sell houses, charge for housing applications, or request payment to “move up” on a housing list.

The City will never request payments via WhatsApp, social media or private bank accounts.
Before you click, share or pay — verify the source.

If you suspect fraud, report it to SAPS and notify the City.
Stay alert. Protect your information.

This Winter, Shelters Need Your Support! ❄️🐾🐶❤️

Typically, winter is the slowest season for adoptions, yet animal welfare organizations emphasize that the demand for loving homes has never been more crucial.

When you adopt an animal, you not only create space for another rescue but also enable shelters to address issues of cruelty, neglect, and emergencies. Each adoption transforms at least two lives: the pet finding a new home and the one that can now be rescued due to the available space.

🚴This World Bicycle Day, we celebrate cycling as a healthy, sustainable and accessible way to move through our city. Whether commuting, exercising or exploring, every ride contributes to cleaner air, reduced congestion and healthier communities.

As winter sets in and daylight hours become shorter, visibility on the road becomes even more important.

Stay safe and be seen with these cycling tips:
🔸 Wear fluorescent colours for early morning rides
🔸 Use retroreflective gear for evening and night visibility
🔸 Add reflective wrist and ankle bands to highlight movement
🔸 Equip your bicycle with a white front light and flashing red rear light for low-light conditions

Always obey traffic lights and road markings and remain alert on the road.
Stay seen. Stay safe. Happy World Bicycle Day! 🚲

If you've noticed a small heart sticker on a lamp post around the Mother City, or purchased one from someone at a traffic light, you've encountered The Secret Love Project. ❤️💚💛💜🤎🖤

This initiative started over ten years ago as an urban art project created by artist Michael Elion during Cape Town's World Design Capital year. The concept was to place heart shapes throughout the city to change how people perceive their surroundings and, in turn, how they treat one another.

It's a beautifully simple yet impactful initiative. The Secret Love Project produces heart-shaped sticker packs and offers them for free to sellers – individuals from all walks of life who are in need, funded by donations from both individuals and corporate partners.

These sellers take the packs to street corners across the city and sell them for R20 each, keeping every cent for themselves. The only conditions are that sellers must be polite and never under the influence while selling.

By selling hearts rather than begging, dignity, responsibility, and connection are restored. In Cape Town, a tiny heart-shaped sticker is creating significant ripple effects. The next time you see someone with a ‘LOVE’ stickers board, remember that your R20 is making a difference!

🌊🚨 South Africa’s brave sea rescue volunteers have introduced a new winter collection, and every purchase helps save lives!

This winter, supporting the NSRI has never been more practical. The organization has launched a range of performance gear created with input from rescue volunteers who operate in challenging, unpredictable conditions. Each piece is engineered to withstand everything a South African winter can deliver.

The best part about showing your support? Every item purchased contributes to funding the lifesaving operations of the organization, ensuring that stations remain equipped, trained, and ready to respond at a moment's notice.

For more details on how to make a purchase, visit https://www.nsri.org.za/2026/05/the-nsris-new-winter-range-built-for-south-african-winters/

Teach children important safety habits, including knowing their full names, home address, parent or guardian contact numbers, and how to seek help from a trusted adult.

These skills are essential for their safety and well-being. It's crucial for children to understand the importance of being able to communicate this information clearly in case of emergencies. Ensuring they can identify a trusted adult—be it a teacher, family friend, or community leader—empowers them to seek help when needed.

Let's work together to equip our children with the tools they need to stay safe and secure! 🛡️👶

Are you searching for a heartfelt way to celebrate Madiba’s legacy this Mandela Day? Consider helping to house and nourish a dog in need. 🐾❤️

As we approach Mandela Day on 16 July, FOUR PAWS South Africa has initiated a significant campaign that pays tribute to the late Madiba while supporting animals in distress.

The animal welfare organization has launched a nationwide initiative called '67 Kennels of Hope,' inviting communities, individuals, and businesses across South Africa to unite and contribute towards funding 67 kennels complete with care packages for dogs in need. In partnership with Mdzananda Animal Clinic in Khayelitsha, this initiative will offer safe shelter, food, and essential care to animals residing in underserved areas.

Every donation will directly aid the provision of kennels, food, and critical care supplies. For further details, please visit https://donate.four-paws.org.za/mandeladay

🥣❤️ In this cold Cape Town weather, let kindness simmer.

Make a pot of soup and share it with a neighbour, someone on the street with nothing to eat, or a loved one going through a difficult time. Sometimes a warm bowl of soup is more than a meal — it’s comfort, care, and a reminder that someone cares.💕

A little kindness can warm more than just hands this winter. ❄️🍲
