🚨💔 CAPE TOWN, WE NEED A MIRACLE FOR WERNER AND HIS GIRL, KALI! 💔🐾

Supawters, animal lovers, friends and guardian angels... we desperately need you right now.

This is a story that has absolutely broken our hearts. 💔 Werner refused to give up on Kali. Please, Cape Town, let's not give up on Werner.

Werner is 46 years old. He lives with Multiple Sclerosis, and right now, he has no home. But he still has his beloved 7-year-old Staffie, Kali. And he refuses to give up on her.

Werner recently contacted our Not Without My Dog initiative, desperate for help.

The home he was renting was sold, and he was forced to move out. Unable to find somewhere that would accept his two precious dogs, Werner made a heartbreaking decision. He would rather sleep in his car than abandon the dogs who meant everything to him. He has now been living in his car for two weeks. Tragically, on their very first night in the car, one of his beloved dogs suffered a massive stroke and had to be put to sleep. 😢

Now it's just Werner and Kali. A man has lost his home, one of his best friends, is battling a debilitating illness... and is desperately trying to hold on to the one companion he has left. Kali is Werner's reason to keep going. His family. His comfort. His whole world. We simply cannot stand by and watch these two lose each other too.

Werner receives a monthly disability payment and CAN AFFORD UP TO R9,000 RENT PER MONTH. Ideally, somewhere near Durbanville MediClinic, where he receives treatment, but ANYWHERE in Cape Town would be a blessing.

We aren't asking for a mansion. Just a safe, pet-friendly place where a man and his dog can sleep peacefully, together, without fear of losing each other.

💔 Werner is losing hope. Let's show him that humanity hasn't lost its heart.

Network of Excellence | Empowering communities in Gqeberha, South Africa

In September, GARC brought together animal-health and welfare professionals in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, South Africa, for a two-day training program that connected classroom learning with school education and hands-on community vaccination.

From 18 to 22 September 2026, participants from Seafam Primary Animal Health Care and other animal health clinics joined trainer Daniel Stewart to cover rabies elimination and disease control, dog behavior, humane handling, education and awareness. Seafam is a GARC-recognized Rabies Center of Excellence making a lasting impact in their community.
