A Resounding Success: Launching the 3M Future Makers Programme at CJC Alexandra Campus! 🚀🌟
June 18, 2026, marked an incredible milestone for technical youth development in South Africa. United Way South Africa, alongside our corporate partner 3M, was in attendance to officially launch the Future Makers Programme at the Central Johannesburg TVET College (Alexandra Campus).
The energy in the room was unmatched. We were overwhelmed and deeply inspired to have over 100 ambitious students pack the venue, representing N4 to N6 cycles in both Electrical and Mechanical Engineering studies.
This launch represents a powerful, multi-stakeholder joint collaboration uniting:
* The Department of Higher Education and Training
* Central Johannesburg TVET College facilitators and leadership
* 3M’s global corporate vision
* United Way South Africa's community impact framework
The half-day programme set student talent front and centre. It featured brilliant campus tours showcasing the Mechanical Workshops and Electrical Labs, critical donor addresses framing our 2026 partnership vision, and an eye-opening Q&A discussion linking classroom TVET training directly to employer expectations and graduate readiness.
The application phase is now officially underway. From this pool of talent, 20 dedicated future makers will be selected to receive comprehensive bursaries, professional mentoring, and pathways to direct workplace exposure.
Thank you to the CJC Alexandra leadership, the dedicated facilitators, our partners at 3M, and every single student who attended and showed up for their future. Together, we are building the next generation of world-class skilled professionals.
