Everything we do should be for the benefit of the family, for empowering the family; because it is in that cell that is produced our society. If we have been able to send a man on the moon, build airplanes, cellphones, televisions, etc..then we must have been able to whipe poverty from the face of the earth if we so wanted. If we have not been able to do it, it is not by lack of resources or ideas
but that we have not been able to mobilise, focus and commit ourselves towards a great common goal to benefit all. We are God but scattered as we are each looking in different directions, busy with our own agendas. The only place where some parts of God are found is in our churches where small miracles are already happening. Families Against Poverty International believes that poverty must be captured as much as possible and dealt with at the cellular level of our society; which is the family where people are born, nurtured and thought values with the help of our schools; that fighting poverty must deal with all underlying and causes of poverty. As John Clarck said in his book called Democratising Development:
“Poverty concerns income and assets but it is about much else besides. It concerns health, life expectancy, diet, shelter, education, security, access to vital resources, and other aspect of living standards. If aid is to attack deprivation, then it needs to act on all the interlocking and underlying causes. Attending to easier while ignoring others builds in-sustainability into the design of the programs at the outset. We need to hence nutrition and health projects to combat physical weakness; roads, telecommunications and education to combat isolation; disaster preparedness and crop insurance to combat vulnerability, and income generation to combat poverty must be combined with the redistribution of assets; freedom of political and trade union association; legislation to insure human rights; programs to elevate the status (as well as income) of women, and environmental protection.”
Therefore we believe that we need to speak about much more than "Microfinance" in dealing with poverty efficiently with regards to the family. That is why Family Against Poverty International helps to provide non-interest loan packages that will cover housing, a small business, business training and a saving plan that secure the family in many aspects and in the repayment of loans for many other families to benefit as well. Downstream we are talking about free higher distance education made possible by internet and other modern tools of communication today, a free or cheap primary and secondary education, more schools, nutrition in schools, more community clinics, Machine tractors station to rent tools to farmers, etc. Our goal has been to give a model program, UBUNTU 2025, based on making everything agreeable for the family and it is today to create the platform that will, speaking of Africa for example, enable 500 million able people of its population and businesses as well, to take charge of their destiny and contribute towards their own up-liftment; to convince African governments to commit a substantial part of their $500 billion annual budgets towards a program that will improve their economies and societies like ever before, in solidarity with the international community and potential important partners. God can only return multiplied by a thousand fold to the farmer when he lays a seed in the soil; Jesus needed his disciples to provide a couple of fishes and bread before multiplying. Dr. Monroe asked, speaking of an apple seed in his hand: what do you want to know about this seed, the fact or the truth? The fact is that what I have in my hand is an apple seed but the truth is that what I have is an apple tree that has apples that have seeds; What I have is a forest of apples trees; a forest of forests of apple trees! and us to ask: Why hunger today and why poverty if God has put so much power in the seed and given us the law of duplication all around us? Is the the devil trying to crash the planet seed? Is it why God so loved the world that he sacrificed his only son so that we may be saved? Poverty, war and sickness are not in the plan of God; it is from evil; It is here to stop and slow us from reaching what God has in store for us...Children not going to school by lack of money..all that. We need to deal with it now! So from the people who need development the most, where is your seed? where is the seed that will free you? Your $3 on average that a member is requested to save on monthly basis is in fact $3 indeed. But the truth is, it is the $3 which multiplied by 500 million members will produce the minimum finance of $15 billion per year that will supply a minimum of about 260 000 loans of $45000 to families, finance free higher education, nutrition in new schools etc.... This the power of coming together, the power of God at work! Around 2005, Families Against Poverty International Africa wrote to African Presidents through President Mbekhi of South Africa , one of the NEPAD organization's co-founder, asking for financial rights for the poor and the unemployed facing death on a daily basis in a world controlled by money; people who were supposed to have a share in all resources being exploited in those countries and also compensated from the fact that the land that was sustaining millions of families is now own by big investments using 2 or 3 machines instead of employing many as promised by capitalism. The result is that more and more people are being left behind and closing our eyes on that situation is simply taking advantage of the poor and the unemployed. We were encouraged to see the Social grant being addressed and introduced a few years later in South Africa already. Around the same year as part of strategic project for poverty reduction, a grant application for a free university based on distance education and called Afriversell University was sent to the UN. In fact, with internet, education should not be as expensive as it is today nor do we need immense investments in the field; One book, one teacher, one main center etc.., and the best of them all are all that is needed in each discipline to serve the all world and enough to make free education. We believe that this may have contributed in the first free World University sponsored by the UN, the University of the People, to be created today.
