Their lives mattered. Their dignity mattered. Their safety matters.

As leaders and as communities, we must reject violence, break the silence and build a culture of respect, accountability and safety.

Together, we must work towards a South Africa where women and girls can live free from fear.

Recently, we hosted the Women in Energy Summit 2026, and we're still riding the energy.

The summit brought together the people, ideas and energy driving Africa's just transition, and it exceeded everything we hoped for.

From powerful stage moments with Minister of Electricity and Energy Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa on becoming sector fluent, to the launch of our flagship Women in Energy Leadership Programme, walked through by Prof Maurice Radebe, to four bold businesses pitching live at the WiE Entrepreneur Pitch Challenge, the day was proof of what happens when women are given the room to lead.

Rightwell Laxa joins the Women in Energy Summit 2026 as a speaker. As Senior Vice President: Supply Chain at Sasol, he leads the function responsible for the group's entire external spend, from sourcing and supplier strategy through to logistics.

A chemical engineer by training, Rightwell brings executive development from the Gordon Institute of Business Science and a certificate in global management from INSEAD. His career at Sasol spans operations leadership, including roles as Senior Vice President for Sasolburg and Ekandustria Operations and head of the Satellite Operations hub.

What makes him a voice worth hearing is his focus beyond the numbers: Rightwell is a vocal advocate for supplier development and for opening industrial value chains to small and emerging businesses, work he's driven most recently through Sasol's Enterprise and Supplier Development programmes.
