Sihlangene Early Childhood Development Forum (SECDF) was founded by a group of women in the areas of Ivory Park, Kaalfontein, Ebony Park and Rabbie Ridge. The group is made up of creche and pre-school founders who endeavored to unite and work together towards leading an organization with which they could accomplished their common objectives and regulate their industry within their area of trade. The price of establishing this organization was indeed not cheap. Enormous challenges were encountered along the way and most of them were a result of lack of skills, support and investment from institutions with the know-hows. The women were tenacious in pursuing their dream much that by the third quarter of 2015, the organization was successfully registered with an executive of 7 committed leaders. Our area of operation is geographically small however, it is home to hundreds of thousands of people. With this size of population comes the need to care for and educate children. All our members founded their schools with the community however, challenges such as space, health, administration and standard of regulation comes as a package. This is where the SECDF comes in. We have the interest of the child, the parent and school principal at heart. We will be developing a conducive, supportive and empowering organization which will see to it that a child attending a creche in our townships receives the same support as the one received by children in affluent locations. Sponsors have also been finding it challenging to plough back into our organizations due to poor management structures and systems. We seek to remedy this challenge and ensure that support is received from all walks of life mostly because it is in the interest of our future generations.
