Every wild dog relocation is about more than just moving animals from one place to another — it’s about strengthening the future of one of Africa’s most endangered predators.

Through the managed metapopulation approach, wild dogs are carefully relocated between protected areas to improve genetic diversity, support pack dynamics, and help create a healthier, connected population across Southern Africa. 🐾

We are proud to play a role in this important conservation effort.

A special thank you to Conservationvets.com for their partnership and collaboration, ABEX Investments and Ford South Africa for their continued support of conservation initiatives like these.

A big thank you to Zimbali Country Club for hosting the Endangered Wildlife Trust for an important conversation on African wild dogs.

Yesterday’s presentation, led by Cole du Plessis, Project Manager of the Carnivore Range Expansion Project EWT_Carnivores and Co-ordinator of the Wild Dog Advisory Group, created space to unpack the complexity of one of Africa’s most endangered and charismatic species, from behaviour and conservation challenges to the innovative efforts underway to help secure their future.

Thank you as well to everyone who joined us and engaged with this critical conversation, and to the Ford Wildlife Foundation for its continued support.

Swipe to meet some of the veterinarians supporting our work in the field.

On World Veterinary Day, we recognise the experts behind so many critical conservation interventions, from treating injured birds of prey to supporting the health of carnivores.

Across our EWT Birds of Prey and EWT_Carnivores units, these and many more veterinary professionals are trusted partners in helping wildlife survive and recover.

Their work may not always be visible, but it is always essential.

The biggest threat to African wild dogs is the loss of safe, connected space.

That is why the Endangered Wildlife Trust’s Wild Dog Range Expansion Project is focused on restoring landscapes where wild dogs can survive and thrive. More than 1.5 million hectares have already been secured or restored, with over 350 wild dogs forming 35 packs across southern Africa.

Thank you to Africa Geographic for generously donating US$3,000 to support this work.

But there is still more to do. More support is needed to secure habitat, fund reintroductions, and create the safe space wild dogs need.

There’s real comfort in conservation when you’re wearing the right shoes.
Lion collaring is no ordinary task — it demands focus, precision, and gear that won’t let you down. Out in the field, where the terrain is unpredictable and the stakes are high, comfort is more than a luxury — it’s a necessity.

Thanks to for providing footwear that met the moment. Whether trekking through thick bush or standing steady beside a sedated lion, these shoes supported every step with unmatched comfort and durability.

A valuable knowledge exchange with the team from the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research, who have led long-term studies on Namibia’s cheetah population. šŸ†

The visit focused on learning from established research protocols, gaining hands-on training, and exploring opportunities for collaboration.
