We are so excited to be tackling 2024 with you guys. The class of 2023 did us proud with their outstanding results and we wish them a fruitful academic journey ahead as they take on the varsity world.

Mentorship is on of the programs that has made an impact in the lives of the learners that we have taken under our wing. As YIT we offer our mentorship in different ways:

1. Traditional One-on-one Mentoring
Once a mentee and mentor are matched by our coordinator they then participate in a mentoring relationship with structure and timeframe of their making or as established by a formal mentoring program.

2. Distance Mentoring
Seeing as we accommodate mentors who are in different provinces, we have adipted the distant mentoring method whereby the two parties are in different locations. Sometimes called “virtual” mentoring.

Both methods have proven to be successful in their own right and we can't wait to share the testimonials from the learners with you.

Did you know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and is thus referred to as Pink Month??

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure.

Every year, breast cancer kills more than 500,000 women around the world. In resource-poor settings, a majority of women with breast cancer are diagnosed at an advanced stage of disease, resulting in low survival rates.

Students learn more when their individual academic needs are met. Teachers work tirelessly to provide our children with the best possible education. However, unforseen circumstances more often than not make it impossible for individualized instruction to take place.

For many girls in Africa, education isn’t just important for a brighter future, it’s critical to their survival. Yet, girls often drop out of school simply because they can’t afford feminine hygiene products.

A lack of education leads to vulnerability. Vulnerability leads to unwanted pregnancy, human trafficking, sexual abuse, domestic violence, HIV, early marriage and a life of no choices.

In 2022, we partnered with iKamva Youth Ivory Park Branch to make sure that the girls in the community stay in school by having sanitary pad drives. We would like to reach out to you, our virtual partners and ask that you assist us in making sure that this drive is a success and continues by making donations. Social Media has a negative connotation attached to it. What most don't know however is the fact that one can have a lucrative career making use of social media...

Social Media Specialist: someone who is up-to-date on the latest social media trends and technologies. It's their job to strategize new social media campaigns and initiatives. Their primary duties may involve writing social media posts, producing content, analyzing data, scheduling posts and running paid advertisements. It's their responsibility to use social media to improve a brand's public appearance.

For our Mandela Day event, iKamva Youth (Ivory and Ebony Park) along with Youth In Tune partnered with United Ways South Africa to educate our children about the various ways one can use social media in a positive manner.
