TechnoAfrika Academy NPC

TechnoAfrika Academy NPC Eradicating extreme poverty and hunger is the biggest everyday challenge to us in Africa and we face it head on.

We are a start-up Science Centre that supports and promote Science, Technology and Innovation in Schools and Communities through Science Awareness and Engagement, in Steve Tshwete Municipality and the wider Nkangala District To turn this around, Africa needs educated, skilled and literate citizens to help fight poverty, grow sustainable communities, and develop a successful continent with thriving

economies. With little or no access to education for disadvantaged children, less educational infrastructure and learning resources, children and disadvantaged youth face battles in achieving their dreams, educating themselves or developing their families and communities. It is within this background and context which leads to the formation of Technology for Africa (TechnoAfrica) formally known and registered as IT4SaSchools. TechnoAfrica believes that educating our people and technologically empowering disadvantaged communities is one of the strongest catalyst for change that will help Africa in fighting poverty and building sustainable communities. As TechnoAfrica we target use of technology in education not as an end to itself, but as a means to an end. Facing the future with an education of the past means African communities always lag behind, and never fully realise their potential. Given the global connectedness of issues, today our learners can only be tomorrow’s leaders if their education is reflective of future demands. The idea behind the formation of TechnoAfrica is to unpack the value of students, enabling them to make meaningful contribution to development. This requires individuals who can learn unlearn and relearn instantly in response to a dynamic environment. Such flexibility can only be guaranteed and entrenched through technological based learning. TechnoAfrica believes in the following:

 Poverty is unacceptable in the 21st century
 Education is the key to alleviating poverty
 Technology has the ability to radically improve education and livelihood

TechnoAfrika was honoured to be invited by the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) to exhibit at the official handover of the Media Lab at Peter Mokaba Primary School, KwaMhlanga. It was a privilege to showcase STEM innovation to learners, educators and the wider community during the Minister’s handover.

A heartfelt thank you to NRF‑SAASTA, DSTI, the District Department of Education, and Ntombizimele for their support and partnership. At our stand we demonstrated hands‑on projects in Science, Robotics, and Renewable Energy, inspiring young minds and sparking curiosity about future careers in technology.

We remain committed to empowering learners with the skills and opportunities they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Sharing some wonderful memories from the final day of our Crash Rovers Two-Day Robotics Bootcamp at HTS Middelburg!
What an incredible event it was! The children were completely engaged from start to finish. Throughout the bootcamp, these bright young minds worked hard to: Build robots and custom attachments, participate in team-building exercises, conduct exciting science experiments, Strategize and prepare for the main event, Go head-to-head in a thrilling Robotics Competition!
What an unforgettable experience. We are so proud of all the participants!

Crash Rovers Robotic Boot Camp. From STEM to STEAM: Engaging the Whole Brain!
TechnoAfrika would like to extend a very special acknowledgment to HTS Middelburg and its incredible Designing Team. Thank you for introducing the participants of our Crash Rovers Robotics Bootcamp to the world of Arts and Design!
This experience powerfully highlighted a crucial message for TechnoAfrika, Science Centres, and the wider education fraternity: the need to embrace STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).
By blending these disciplines, we promote a holistic approach to learning that engages both sides of the brain. While STEM subjects build and boost the left side of the brain (logic and analysis), the "A" for Arts brings out the very best of the right side of the brain (creativity and innovation). 🧠
We also want to express our deepest gratitude to the following individuals who made this possible:
👩‍🏫 Mrs. Schrive: Thank you for taking the time to teach our learners (and us!) about the creative, innovative side of the brain. We also deeply appreciate you allowing us to use your excellent classroom space.
Principal Mr. Van Heerden: A very special thank you to the HTS Principal for taking the time to officially open our Robotics Bootcamp. Your support sets the tone for our success!
When we combine technical skills with creative design, there is no limit to what our future innovators can build.

Empowering the Next Generation of Innovators!
We are thrilled to share the success of our first day of the Crash Rovers’ Robotics Bootcamp, proudly co-hosted by HTS Middelburg and TechnoAfrika!
This incredible initiative was driven by two important goals:
1. Representing South Africa: We are actively raising funds for the talented Crash Rovers - HTS Robotics Team! They have officially qualified to represent our country at the prestigious Asia Pacific Open Championship in Sydney, Australia.
2. Promoting STEM Education: We had the privilege of introducing the exciting world of Lego Robotics to students and schools who had not previously been exposed to it, helping to spark a new passion for technology and engineering in our community.
An event of this scale is a massive team effort, and we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible people and organizations who made it possible:
Mrs. Kruger: Thank you for your hard work and dedication in organizing this event.
Mr. Raath & HTS Middelburg: Thank you for opening your doors and being such fantastic hosts. Participating Schools: Thank you for your generous financial contributions and for bringing such enthusiastic learners to the bootcamp.
Makhathini Primary School Robotics Hub: A special thank you for generously providing the Lego Robotics Kits that made the hands-on learning possible.
Together, we are not just building robots; we are building futures. Please join us in wishing the HTS Robotics Team the best of luck as they prepare for Sydney!

What a transformative visit to OR Tambo MSTA this week. TechnoAfrika had a productive strategic collaboration meeting with the OR Tambo Mathematics, Science and Technology Academy — the Mpumalanga Department of Education sub directorate that supports Science, Mathematics and Technology in the province.
Our focus was strengthening partnerships to advance science, mathematics, technology and innovation across Mpumalanga. Thank you, OR Tambo MSTA, for your warm hospitality, ongoing support, and a very constructive meeting. We look forward to walking this journey together.

Advancing STEM Teaching: TechnoAfrika Trains Science Educators from Komatsu-Adopted Schools
Last week, TechnoAfrika facilitated a two-day professional development programme for science teachers from Komatsu-adopted schools across Mpumalanga and Limpopo, hosted at OR Tambo MSTA in Emalahleni.
• Day 1: Robotics and Coding
• Day 2: Electricity and Magnetism
The dedication of participating educators was exceptional — many continued engaging well past 16:30, demonstrating real commitment to strengthening STEM learning in their classrooms.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Komatsu for funding this training, to NRF–SAASTA for the invitation and coordination, and to OR Tambo MSTA for hosting. Most importantly, thank you to the teachers who attended. It was an honour and a privilege to support your growth.
When teachers are empowered, the nation is empowered.
