Will you spot one of the Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve resident Black Harriers?
Maybe something else that has eluded you for years?

It's the BirdLife South Africa Birding Big Day this Saturday. (7th December)

You can register online now for the Provincial or National categories http://www.birdlife.org.za/support-us/events/birding-big-day-2024
For local entrants spotting within a 6 or 50km radius you can either register at the park, from 6am, or else drop us a mail at [email protected]

There will be drinks and eats available, as well as FoV branded clothing and an indigenous plant nursery too.

From 3pm it's time for our famous annual Boerie Braai. This will include the prize giving for the bird spotting teams.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Only 2 weeks to go!

It's almost time for our annual Boerie Braai at Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve. 7th December

This year is extra special, as it's combined with the BirdLife South Africa Birding Big Day. If you've not yet registered a team, you can do so at https://www.birdlife.org.za/support-us/events/birding-big-day-2024
Can't get a team together, but still want to take part? Let us know and we may be able to put you in touch with other 'singles'.

Birders can start from 6am, and there will be food stalls available from 8 for coffee and snacks until about 2pm.

The boerie braai starts at 3, for birders and non-birders. Friends of Vrolijkheid will provide the boerie rolls, so just bring your drinks and sides (and anything else you may need)

There will also be indigenous plants and trees from Rooiberg Breede River Conservancy for sale, at cost price.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
