Work has started on this year's McGregor Art Walk. Save the date: 4 - 6 October 2024 and coincides with October's First Friday.

Yesterday saw the conclusion to McGregor's inaugural Art Walk with an exhibition of local artists' works donated for auction. We will come back to this because, first, we have big news. Benefactor, Jan Glazewski (sweep to the last photo) has pledged to sponsor a year's worth of art classes for participating children at the Breede Centre. This, in addition to the funds raised (total still being tallied), sets a firm foundation for what, less than a year ago was just a dream.

Back to the online auction: not all works have bids on them, so Bill Wilson, De Kaap's owner, has kindly agreed that they remain in his gallery for the time being and bids remain open (link in bio for images and descriptions of the works).

De Kaap boutique winery and gallery is open for tastings and viewing every Saturday and Sunday from noon.

It’s time to plan your route for the McGregor Art Walk: Friday sees the Walk’s launch as well as the inaugural First Fridays. But that’s not all: it’s the beginning of a weekend of activities. The programme is below. Note: entry to the studios and exhibitions are free, but we are asking you to open your hearts and wallets to support our community arts project which runs out of the Breede Centre. We look forward to seeing you on over the weekend of 1 December!

Since finalising and announcing the new date for inaugural McGregor Art Walk, there have been a couple of minor changes to the programme. Here is our updated map which shows all the artists’ open studios as well as the locations for the Mexican Feast, Art Movie and the fun Art Quiz. Remember: All proceeds of the online auction and the ticket sales go to the community arts project at the Breede Centre. There are still works for sale, so give and get a fabulous original artwork.

We are blown away by .madelein.bronn’s generosity: four of her paintings – these beauties - originally destined for our online auction have been sold and guess what? She’s donating the proceeds to our community arts project. Thank you so much!

We are delighted to announce the new dates for the inaugrural McGregor Art Walk – with minimal changes to the programme. That’s thanks to our amazing artists and venue hosts!

We were terribly disappointed not to have been able to go ahead this weekend, but with the damage to the roads and the local infrastructure, coupled with the threat of more heavy rain this weekend, we decided to be safe rather than sorry.

We do hope that those of you who have booked tickets will be able to join us that weekend.
