A huge thank you to Sabie Poles for the generous donation of wood and planks, and to Forestry Plant & Equipment Sales CC
for going the extra mile to transport it from Sabie to our GRBI offices in Nelspruit at your own cost.

We are incredibly grateful for your support and can't wait to transform the wood and planks into beautiful new features for the Riverside Reserve, including signage and a fun selfie board for visitors to enjoy.

“There are no ordinary cats.” – Colette. Every cat we meet through our Caring for Cats campaign reminds us of this truth. Take a look at some of the cats we trapped, neutered and returned these past few weeks.

Through our Trap–Neuter–Return (TNR) initiative, we humanely trap feral and stray cats, take them to Nelspruit Animal Hospital for sterilisation and a health check, and then return them to their familiar environment. By preventing unwanted litters and improving overall welfare, TNR creates lasting benefits for both cats and the community.

PAWS FOR A CAUSE – COMMUNITY DOG WALK 2026

Join us on 27 June 2026 as we come together in the Riverside precinct for a morning of fun, fresh air, community spirit, and most importantly, to support the incredible work being done by Pro Life Pet Rescue.

Whether you're bringing your four-legged best friend, your family, your friends, or simply your love for animals, every step you take will help make a difference. Your entry donation of pet food will go directly towards helping rescue, care for, and rehome animals in need.

WATCH: A tale of 3 kittens from our Caring for Cats Projects.

Meet Sunshine (now Daisy), River and Tux (now Mr. Nimbus) — three tiny kittens trapped within the Riverside Precinct between March and May, who have all since been adopted and found their forever homes.

As part of our Caring for Cats project, most feral and stray cats that enter our Trap–Neuter–Return (TNR) programme are sterilised, health-checked, and then safely returned to their original environment. This helps reduce overpopulation while protecting both the community and the environment.

We are also proud to share that we are close to having trapped 40 cats within the Riverside Precinct through the programme.

However, when we come across kittens, the approach is a little different. After being rescued, kittens are taken to Nelspruit Animal Hospital for all their health checks, treatment and care, Stories like Daisy, River and Mr. Nimbus remind us why this project matters — every rescue makes a difference.

The GRBI is caring for plant stock with the intention of releasing the plants in late winter/spring for retail sales, internal sales for the Riverside CID open spaces and replacing material where invasive alien plants in Riverside Reserve have been eradicated.

Approximately 50% of our tree stocks are endemic to Riverside Reserve and will be planted according to proper planting procedures while at the same time educating our allocated EPWP interns in these best planting practices.
