💜 THANKFUL THURSDAY 💜
We are feeling thankful again this Thursday for the wonderful Quilters Guild, who once again delivered some beautiful handmade teddy bears and much-needed care pack items to GRIP. 🧸
And this time, we received some new-style teddy bears in the form of the cutest cuddly cushions! 😍 They are so cool, and we absolutely love them!
Thank you to every member of the Lowveld Quilters / Laeveldse Kwilters who puts their time, creativity, love and care into making these special items.

Out with the old….
GRIP would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused while our Tintswalo Hospital Care Room is temporarily operating from Casualty.
As you can see, it was time to say goodbye to our old container! While it may have served its purpose for a time, we are incredibly excited to share that a brand-new, beautiful GRIP Care Room is on its way!
For now, Survivors who need our support at Tintswalo Hospital can still find the GRIP team camping out in Casualty.
We can't wait to welcome Survivors into a safe, private and welcoming new space soon. 🌷

On Friday, 21 August, our PowerGirls took part in another meaningful session focused on sexual health, consent and communication.
🌱 Langa team learnt about: Understanding Consent
The girls explored what consent really means and discussed the importance of talking openly about boundaries, expectations and consent.
They learnt that consent should be voluntary, clear, continuous, confident, enthusiastic and given with awareness, and that nobody should ever feel pressured or coerced.
The Naledi team learnt about : Communication
Mama Lora reminded the PowerGirls that communication is a ticket to success. Communication isn't simply saying what you think; it is making sure that the other person understands what you mean.
These are important conversations that help young girls understand their boundaries, express themselves with confidence and build healthy, respectful relationships.
We are proud of our PowerGirls for participating, asking questions and supporting one another. 🌸
Creating safe spaces where girls feel heard, valued and empowered is at the heart of what PowerGirls is all about. 💜

Its a phrase we hear all too often, "If you were being abused, why didn't you just leave?"

Here's what you need to know...

In many cases, the victims are children and they cannot leave. In other cases the victims are 100% dependent on their abusers. Then there are the usual barriers like where to go? How to get to safety? How to protect the children?

When a victim tells you about their situation listen, believe, ask what support they need now and direct them to us here at The Greater R**e Intervention Project Non-profit

Safety must come first.

💜 THANKFUL THURSDAY | BERGLAM’S UBUNTU IN ACTION 💜
Today we’re saying a HUGE thank you to Hoërskool Bergvlam and their Mr & Miss Bergvlam 2026 finalists for turning Ubuntu into action. 🌸
Through their Women’s Day drive, the Bergvlam community collected 400+ sanitary products to support women and girls in our community. What makes this even more special is the message behind it: small acts of kindness can restore dignity and remind someone that they are seen, valued and cared for. 💜
But there was another part of this initiative that meant so much to us…
We were given the opportunity to speak to the scholars about GRIP and the work we do. And, incredibly, not one of the scholars attending knew about GRIP or the services we provide.
That is exactly why opportunities like this matter so much. 💜
We want every young person, every woman and every family in our community to know that GRIP is here. We are here to support survivors of r**e and GBV, to provide care, to help people navigate the systems they find themselves in, and to advocate for their rights.
You can’t ask for help from a service you don’t know exists. So being able to introduce GRIP to young people and let them know “We are here to help” is incredibly important to us.
A heartfelt THANK YOU to the Bergvlam scholars, staff, Mr & Miss Bergvlam finalists and everyone who contributed to this beautiful initiative. 🌷
And a very special thank you to Suzuki Nelspruit and Wolf Plumbing and Maintenance for your generous contributions and for helping make this drive possible. 🙏💜
