๐Ÿพ An Amazing Educational Opportunity! ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ„

We had the pleasure of welcoming 23 students from the University of Mpumalangaโ€™s Department of Agricultural Sciences, specifically in the field of Production Animals, to the SPCA.

The visit included a theoretical briefing covering:
๐Ÿ“š The mission and role of the SPCA
๐Ÿพ Our responsibilities regarding animal health and welfare, including farm and production animals
โš–๏ธ An overview of the Animals Protection Act 71 of 1962
๐Ÿ“– Relevant Codes of Practice
๐Ÿฉบ Animal health assessment and recognising welfare concerns
๐Ÿ’™ The principles and importance of humane euthanasia

The students then had the opportunity to tour our facilities, including our catteries, dog kennels, quarantine areas and clinic, gaining a practical insight into the day-to-day work involved in protecting animals and promoting responsible animal welfare.

It was wonderful to meet such a positive, enthusiastic and interested group of students. Educating the next generation of agricultural professionals about animal welfare is incredibly important, particularly when it comes to the care, handling and management of production animals.

๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿพ Thank you for choosing us as part of your learning journey. We hope you enjoyed the experience as much as we enjoyed having you here!

We look forward to seeing the knowledge and compassion you take forward into your future careers. โค๏ธ
