What a fun evening that was!

Quizmas in July kept everyone on their toes, wracking their brains and coming to grips with a new type of trivia competition.

Come the end of the evening, our winning team was Thinkers and Drinkers, closely followed by Resting Grinch Face and Quizzly Bears. The best-dressed table belonged to Quizmas Angels.

A special thanks to our quizmaster, Lion Gery van Gelder, ably abetted by his lovely assistant, Nicci. Many thanks to our sponsors and participants. We had some great raffle and spot prizes, as well as items which were auctioned.

We haven't done all the sums yet, but are fairly confident that we raised around R7000 for our projects account, which will help us better serve our community. AND, lots of pre-loved soft toys were donated which children in hospital will love

Nelspruit Lions spent Mandela Day morning serving up nutritious home-made soup to close to a hundred people, mainly seniors. We met up with them at a care centre in Kanyamazane at the event we organised through Atkasi Women Parliament. (A group of volunteers we met originally when we were involved with the Mpumalanga flood relief efforts.)

Tomorrow is Mandela Day!

Last night several members, friends and family got together to prep vegetables donated by Freshlinq Market, Nelspruit. Today we are busy cooking about 67 litres of soup, and tomorrow we will be serving 150 seniors, orphans and other people in need in Kanyamazane.

On Saturday, 27 June, Nelspruit Lions Club prepared for the new Lionistic year with the induction of new/returning Lion Gail Jackman, and the Incoming (also outgoing) President, Lion Val Graham. The inductions were performed by Past District Governor, Sydney van Heerden, who was accompanied by Multiple District Chair Sandy van Heerden.

One of the most important parts of the evening was the presentation of a prestigious Louis Volks Humanitarian Award to Lion Boekes le Roux, who has been a Lion with several clubs across the Multiple District for a total of 40 years, and has recently been serving as Treasurer with our club.

LP Val presented the club trophies in various categories, and also gave out "Superhero" mugs to her Board members, as well as to Lion Lady Marion Langdon, who continues to serve our community with love and enthusiasm, well into her 9th decade!

The formal dinner was held at the Boulevard Theatre.
