Community Dialogue β Tekatako Community
π€ Building Safer Communities Through Collective Action
On 05 June 2026, Laapeng Foundation, together with our valued stakeholders and community partners, hosted a successful Community Dialogue under the theme "Safe Communities Start With Us" at life transformation christian centre.
The dialogue brought together community members, local leaders, service providers, and stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions on critical issues affecting the Tekatako community, including:
πΉ Gender-Based Violence (GBV) & Sexual Violence
πΉ Substance Abuse
πΉ Crime and Community Safety
πΉ Mental Health and Well-being
Participants were divided into groups according to these focus areas, where they shared experiences, identified challenges, explored root causes, and developed practical solutions. Each group later presented their findings and recommendations, highlighting the impact these social issues have on individuals, families, and the broader community.
The dialogue created a platform for open conversation, community participation, and collective problem-solving, reinforcing the importance of working together to create a safer, healthier, and more supportive Tekatako for everyone.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all stakeholders, partners, facilitators, and community members who participated and contributed to the success of this important dialogue.
π Together, we can break the cycle of violence, reduce substance abuse, strengthen mental health support, and build safer communities for future generations.
