Healing Wings

Healing Wings HW is the leading treatment centre in South Africa. We have helped countless individuals find freedom Healing Wings is not about us actually. It’s about YOU.

Healing Wings South Africa comprises of both an adult and a youth centre that provides drug and alcohol rehabilitation for all ages, having established a solid reputation as one of the most successful treatment centres in the hemisphere. Although the focus is primarily on the treatment of addiction, we know that recovery is not as simple as the removal of the substance. Addiction is ultimately a b

ehaviour disorder, and therefore the behaviour needs to change. As such, we also deal with eating disorders, dual diagnosis, self-harm, sexual addictions, behaviour disorders, and gambling addiction. We believe that for healing to occur, it is necessary to address unresolved issues or trauma, as well as the underlying self-defeating thought patterns that perpetuate the addiction. The practical application of cognitive behavioural therapy is crucial – the premise that by changing the way that we think, we can change the way that we act. In addition, we incorporate a number of other treatment philosophies, including dialectical behaviour therapy, person-centred individual counselling, art therapy, equine-assisted activities, reality therapy, focused group sessions and didactic lectures. Throughout treatment, we facilitate the renowned Celebrate Recovery spiritual program as well as the AA/NA 12 Steps, to assist each person in discovering their true identity and in understanding and taking responsibility for their past. Family therapy, external support and conjoint sessions are a core ingredient in ensuring that the whole family is given an opportunity to heal, and in establishing aftercare plans that are integral for reintegration. Healing Wings has continued to operate effectively in the Sudwala region of Mpumalanga since 2009, after a decade of success prior to that while based in Southern Mozambique. The centre has flourished accordingly and is registered with the Department of Social Development, and is fully compliant with the Minimum Norms and Standards. We have teamed up with the Department in providing assistance to those less fortunate, and in developing programs to help combat the rural scourge of drugs. Our school at the Youth Centre, Purpose College, is registered with the Department of Education, and we are proud to announce a 100% Matric pass rate after 4 years as a fully operational correspondence school. As a registered NPO, Healing Wings is active in the local community, and as part of our commitment to help, we endeavour to raise funds to assist in this respect.

“Help Me Bring My Son Back to His Children, His Purpose, and His Life”

In May 2026, a 68-year-old mother from Mozambique reached out in desperation for help for her son.

After enquiring about our Healing Wings adult male programme, she sent a heartfelt plea for financial assistance to help secure his admission. Already carrying the burden of supporting her son’s unemployed wife and four children, finances had become a major concern. A payment plan was approved, and just days later, he arrived at Healing Wings South Africa from Matola, Mozambique — determined to fight for a better future.

Despite years of struggle, he made the courageous decision to seek help because he wanted to rebuild his life and return to his children.

“Mom, please help me. I want to become the father I dreamed of being for my children.”

Today, he is fighting for his freedom, his family, and a second chance at life.

Please keep this family in your prayers as they walk this road of healing and recovery. ❤️

Equine therapy is a powerful treatment approach that uses horses to support emotional healing, personal growth, and recovery, particularly for those struggling with addiction. Far more than horseback riding, it involves meaningful, hands-on responsibility.

Residents actively care for, feed, and groom the horses, learning consistency, patience, and accountability. Horses respond to trust and respect, creating an honest relationship that encourages self-awareness and responsibility. Through building trust with these intelligent animals, individuals develop valuable relationship and communication skills that can positively impact everyday interactions and long-term recovery.

3 May 2026 *STRONGER TOGETHER - ON AND OFF THE FIELD*

A few of our male residents were treated to an unforgettable day out, to watch an exciting rugby clash between the Airlink Pumas and the Boland Cavaliers this afternoon at the Mbombela Stadium.
It was a nail-biting match, with our keen supporters celebrating a thrilling 38-31 victory for the Airlink Pumas.
More than just a game, today was about connection, joy and experiencing the spirit of SA rugby together. Moments like these remind us how powerful shared experiences can be on the journey to recovery.
