I find myself at a very real intersection right now.

The pain I feel for our children…
and my deep commitment to human development… have forced me to confront something uncomfortable.

We are raising a generation that is being told: “33% is enough.”
Enough to pass.
Enough to get by.
Enough to move on.
Enough to live your wildest imagination.

But since when did “getting by” become the standard?
When did mediocrity become acceptable… and excellence something we celebrate as if it’s rare?

Here’s the real concern:
If the system sets a low bar, we shouldn’t be surprised when learners disengage. Because why would a child strive for greatness when the environment doesn’t demand it—or equip them for it?

At the same time, we see a different reality in high-performing environments. Not because those learners are more capable—but because they are exposed to:
Different thinking.
Higher standards.
Greater belief.

More structured development
So the issue is not intelligence.
It’s exposure. It’s mindset. It’s human development. And this is where the real opportunity lies.

Imagine a system where:
Public school learners are equipped with the same internal tools. Private school learners are supported beyond performance and pressure and this will create an environment where young people begin to see each other not as competition rooted in inequality… but as individuals growing within different contexts

Because when a learner:
Understands themselves.
Believes in their potential.
Develops discipline and clarity.

Everything changes.
Performance improves.
Behaviour shifts.
Opportunities open.

We cannot afford to let our children fall through the cracks—not because of lack of intelligence, but because of lack of development.

This is why I do what I do through The YOU Conversation™.
Not as motivation.
But as structured human development.

To Government.
To Private Schools.
To Public Schools.
To every stakeholder in education:
If we are serious about the future,
we need to invest in the individual behind the learner. Because when the individual develops, performance follows.

Day 1:- AWARENESS

[1] You are not stuck.
You are just not aware.

[2] Most people don’t lack potential.
They lack awareness of how they show up daily.

[3] You can’t fix what you don’t see.
Your habits.
Your reactions.
Your decisions.
They are all shaping your life.

[4] Be honest, No excuses & No stories.

[5] Ask yourself tonight:
“What version of me showed up today?”

The thinking mechanism ahead of this program so you are able to understand the concept:-

Most people think they are stuck. But in reality, they are just unaware.

Unaware of:
How they respond to pressure.
How they speak to themselves.
How their daily habits are shaping their future.

The truth is simple:- You cannot change what you cannot see!
The moment you become aware, you take back control.

Tonight, ask yourself one question:-
“What version of me showed up today?”

That question alone can change everything.

It is both a privilege and a profound honor to be part of a movement committed to preserving and celebrating the legacy of the legendary Ray Phiri.

Dr. Ray Chikapa Phiri was more than a musician—he was a pioneer, a cultural architect, and a catalyst within the music industry. He carved out pathways where none existed, creating opportunities that today’s musicians and creatives continue to walk with pride and possibility.

In recognition of his extraordinary contribution, the University of South Africa Council unanimously resolved to confer upon him the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Music (Honoris Causa, Posthumously) - a fitting tribute to a man whose influence transcended sound and shaped society itself.

Ray Phiri distinguished himself as a gifted artist, masterful lead guitarist, producer, and prolific songwriter whose body of work spans decades, from the 1970s until his passing on 12 July 2017. His music did more than entertain—it united, educated, and inspired. It became a vehicle for social cohesion and a voice for cultural and societal expression, both locally and on the global stage.

Deeply attuned to the socio-political realities of his time, he used his artistry as a tool for resistance and awareness. Through powerful compositions such as Highland Drifter (1974),, Where Did We Go Wrong with a white female vocalist (1984), and the timeless Whispers in the Deep/ Phinda Mzala (1986) - the three songs were censored under apartheid. He demonstrated the courage to speak truth in moments when silence was expected.

His exceptional talent resonated beyond borders, capturing the attention of global icons like Paul Simon, who a requested him to collaborate and engineer a South African sound on the internationally acclaimed album Graceland where Dr. Ray Phiri was instrumental in the collection of some of South Africa's greatest musical talent whom we all consider LEGENDS today. This collaboration not only amplified his reach but also cemented his place in global music history.

Throughout his lifetime, Ray Phiri received numerous accolades in recognition of his immense contribution, including the prestigious Order of Ikhamanga (2011), and the South African Music Lifetime Achievement Award (2012) . These honors reflect a legacy defined not just by excellence, but by impact.

Ray Phiri’s legacy is not confined to history, it lives on in every note, every story, and every artist he inspired. To carry his name forward is to carry a responsibility: to create with purpose, to lead with integrity, and to never forget the power of music to transform lives.
