SARZA Lowveld Call-Out – Sunday Morning Response

SARZA Lowveld members responded during the early hours of Sunday morning to assist the Barberton Fire Department after a vehicle rolled backwards off the road, coming to rest approximately 50 metres down a steep embankment.

Two occupants were safely accessed by rescue teams, carefully recovered from the scene, and brought back up the embankment using rope rescue techniques. Both patients sustained minor injuries and were successfully handed over to the awaiting ambulance crews for further assessment and treatment.

A great example of teamwork and cooperation between all emergency services, ensuring a safe outcome for everyone involved.

SARZA Supports the MAC MAC ULTRA Marathon

This past weekend SARZA was proud to provide radio communications and checkpoint support throughout the MAC MAC ULTRA Marathon, helping to ensure efficient communication and the safety of participants across the event.

Our team supported athletes competing in the:
🏃 200 Mile
🏃 100 Mile
🏃 50 Mile
🏃 46 km
🏃 25 km

A sincere thank you to the race organisers, volunteers, emergency services, and every SARZA member who dedicated their time and effort to make this incredible event a success.

Congratulations to every participant who took on the challenge—you demonstrated remarkable determination and endurance!

*Little heroes in training! 💛🚁*

Our Search & Rescue volunteers had the best morning at Summerhill Preschool on Friday, 26 June 2026.

We taught the kids what SARZA is all about. The children got hands-on with real equipment and learned how each tool keeps people safe.

*Highlights:*
1. *Pulley power*: Every child helped haul a rescue basket using a pulley system. Teamwork + big smiles = mission success
2. *Lost child safety*: We practiced “Stop, Call, Listen, Wait” so they know exactly what to do if they ever get separated. Smart kids!
3. *Rescue mission*: The big finale was finding “Friend Mouse” on a mock rescue. The kids were amazing little rescuers.
