Before you say, โI've never acted before,โ remember: this is an Incubator. Training is part of the programme.๐ญ
Never auditioned before? You are still welcome in the room.
In three days, we begin the search for actors who will be part of Where The Drums Remember and the Matatiele Indigenous Musical Theatre Incubator.
And because this is a training programme, we know that some talented people may be interested in acting but have never attended an audition before.
So, what is a monologue?
A monologue is simply a short piece of acting performed by one person. You speak as a character, expressing what that character is thinking, feeling or experiencing.
Think of it as performing a scene, except you are the only actor speaking.
For your audition, choose a short monologue that you understand and feel comfortable performing. Learn the words, think about who the character is, what they want and what is happening in the moment.
We are not expecting everyone who walks through the door to be a trained actor.
We want to see whether you can listen, imagine, communicate and commit to a character. You may also be given a short scene or situation to act out on the day.
If you can sing or dance as well as act, let us know during registration. Where The Drums Remember is a musical theatre production, so those additional abilities matter.
