Yesterday Rubbing shoulders with great minds! 💡 Our learners from various schools had the incredible opportunity to receive scientific guidance from the UNISA College of Engineering and the ESKOM Science EXPO (Mthatha Region) as they develop their science projects. 🚀

Congratulations to our very own young scientist, Ibanathi Mkhize! 👏🏾👏🏾

We are beyond proud to announce that Ibanathi, with the support of the MDI Centre in KwaHlomendlini, has brought home a Bronze Medal from the 2025 Eskom Expo International Science Fair! 🏅

His journey is a powerful reminder that talent lives right here in our communities, all it needs is encouragement, guidance, and opportunity. Through the support of Mgobozi Developmental Initiatives MDI, Eskom Expo Mthatha Region and Unisa - The University of South Africa college of Engineering Ibanathi turned his curiosity into a science project that impressed national judges and stood out among South Africa’s brightest young innovators. 💡

This is not just Ibanathi’s win — it’s a victory for the Region, and every young person who dares to dream big! 🙌🏾

His journey started last year (2024) when he entered for the MDI Expo competition for budding scientists and his project caught the attention of judges, with the support of MDI he took part in the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists and won within the District competition, securing him space compete at the Regionals where he was among the three that represented the Region. This young man proudly represented the region at the International Science Fair this week.
