Gaan Groen Knysna is ’n inisiatief wat met trots deur AfriForum se Omgewingsake-afdeling ondersteun word en ten doel het om Knysna en die omliggende omgewing te rehabiliteer ná die onlangse verwoestende brande. Die Tuinroete, waarvan Knysna deel vorm, is bekend vir sy
natuurskoon en trek gevolglik jaarliks duisende toeriste. Hierdie rehabilitasieprojek beoog om in samewerking met ander belanghebbendes bome en struike te plant om die gebied sodoende mettertyd tot sy eertydse glorie te herstel. Die gebied se natuurlike fauna en flora is nie net beeldskoon nie, maar speel ook ’n baie belangrike rol met betrekking tot erosie, veral watererosie. Met die reënseisoen om die draai gaan die rolspelers in die projek ook nou betrokke wees om die natuurlike habitat te herstel. Dít sal tot gevolg hê dat verspoelings en modderstortings in die toekoms sover moontlik beperk word. Go Green Knysna is an initiative that AfriForum’s environmental affairs division proudly supports. It aims to rehabilitate the areas in and around Knysna after the recent devastating fires. The Garden Route, of which Knysna forms part, is renowned for its natural beauty and attracts thousands of tourists every year. This rehabilitation project aims to plant trees and shrubs in cooperation with other stakeholders to help restore the area to its former glory. The area’s natural fauna and flora is not only breathtakingly beautiful but also plays a very important role in combatting erosion, especially water erosion. With the rainy season just around the corner, the project’s role-players will also be involved in restoring natural habitat.
