Manenberg bows its head today for Abdullah Ibrahim — Dollar Brand
our Jazz legend, our own.
He was a global icon, but he never forgot where he came from.
In 1992, Bra Dollar stood with us at the opening of Manenberg People’s Centre. He played for us, with us, and for the children of these streets. More than that, he supported our Centre financially in those early days, giving us strength when we needed it most.
His piano carried the pain, pride, and power of Manenberg to the world. Yet he always brought that sound back home.
Thank you, Bra Dollar. Your music, your generosity, and your love for this community will echo in our halls for generations.
