ICD Regrets to Announce Cancellation of the Project that scheduled for 29 December 2025 Due to Insufficient Youth-Led Participation

[Abbotsdale, South Africa] – The Initiative for Community-Led Development (ICD) announces with regret the cancellation of its "Youth Vibes" initiative, citing insufficient youth-led participation as a major factor in its decision. The project aimed to empower youth to celebrate heritage and showcase their creative talents, fostering a platform for expression and community pride.

ICD's guiding principle, "Nothing for the community without the community," emphasizes the importance of community-led development. Despite extensive outreach and engagement efforts to involve youth in the planning and implementation phases, participation levels did not meet the required thresholds to ensure the project's success and sustainability.

"We respect the community's decisions and priorities," said Mr Shaheen-Aziz May. "While it's disappointing to cancel the project, we remain committed to supporting community-driven initiatives that truly reflect the needs and aspirations of the people we serve. We believe in empowering communities to lead their own development journeys."
